Thanks, was curious as to whether it was a standard world cruise amenity or part of the enhancement project.

When in doubt ask the butler. He said they were just for people on the full world cruise.

Thanks TM. I had lunch on the Muse on Sunday to mark the inaugural visit to Australia. One of the things Roberto Martinoli spoke about the increased emphasis on floral displays as part of the project invictus - hence my curiosity :)

Have you done many cruises on SS Zig? I think this is our 5th.

I've done 5 so far, and have another 2 booked. My next cruise in April though is back on Regent, so whilst I really enjoy SS I also look at other lines to see what itineraries / prices are available.

Ahhh .... but TM if you add all the world segments up that would change your total !!! Now total nights - thats the number you need to know ;);) We met a woman on one of our cruises who was over 2,000 nights !!!

Exactly... it is a bit of an understatement to call a world cruise just the 5th cruise :p
There are some cruisers with a huge number of nights cruising the world - makes me very jealous :D

Zig we are on the Muse next month - it will be our 13th SS cruise - so did you like your visit when it was in Sydney ??

The nature of the visit made it hard to really get a proper feel for the ship. We were split into groups of 6 - 8 and were given a tour by a SS rep. There was a presentation in the Venetian Lounge ( Roberto Martinoli / Barbara Muckerman / Captain etc) and then lunch in Indochine. On the tour we were kept moving at a fairly quick pace, so couldn't linger too long to take a lot in. The suites are lovely and comfortable looking. Public areas are spacious, with the exception of the Venetian Lounge which I thought was very small for the size of the ship. Lunch was excellent and the service in Indochine was excellent as well. I guess with the CEO sitting at the table you wouldn't expect anything less ;)
The size of the ship was what struck me, and I hope that despite the increased size the personalised SS service can be maintained. I know you have both spent my nights on the Explorer, so I'm sure the larger size of the Muse will be a factor for you as well. I look forward to hearing how you find the Muse and hope you have a great trip.

Sorry TM for taking over the thread :oops:

Not a worry, Zig, I'm glad to have the interaction. I'll grab the thread back when we get to some ports - it's a little hard on sea days to get excited about Trivia though we have a psychologically challenging team. :)

At the end of the cruise we'll have a bit over 200 nights and around 400 overall. We are amateurs by comparison with some. We spoke to someone tonight who had done 6 world cruises which is close to 1000 nights. It scares me to convert that to dollars!

No, I'm not in the travel industry.
The event was for Venetian Society members. Not quite sure how I scored an invite as there would be many many Venetian Society members in NSW with more nights onboard than me

Day 9 Jan 14. After 8 days crossing from San Francisco we have arrived at Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia. It is a tiny outpost of France and is still a long way from the big smoke of Papeete. In fact, it is said to be the most isolated island in the world in terms of its distance from the continents. It is very pretty and laid back. We have loads of photos but it is, at the moment, too difficult to post them with a glacial internet connection in an area with limited satellite coverage. So, I will save them until it gets better. Paradise does have its drawbacks.

Day 10 Jan 15. It’s a sea day today as we travel from Nuku Hiva to Rangiroa, the third largest coral atoll in the world. It’s part of the Tu Archipelago of French Polynesia and 300 or so nautical miles northwest of Tahiti. But Rangiroa is tomorrow.

Yesterday we had a great day on Nuku Hiva in near perfect weather. There wasn’t a lot to do apart from a walk along the beachfront. Some people went 4x4 touring to the centre of the island, but we were less adventurous. There was a small market and the chef managed to find some fresh fruit to supplement supplies – primarily grapefruit, jackfruit, starfruit and excellent mangoes. He also negotiated a couple of large tuna which were used last night, in part, in a tuna tartar which was magnificent. Nuku Hiva was a great place for the camera. I’ll try some smaller pic files to see if I can get them to “take” in the sea the Internet forgot.
