We have had a major dispute in office today - and it involves the 'cutting of sandwiches' for lunch. Which way is correct way to cut a sandwich?

Do you cut 'across' the sandwich thereby having a 'full crust' to top of sandwich:

Or do you cut 'down' the sandwich so that each half has 'equal crust' at top?

Your input here please good folks?

Out of those two...equal crust is preferable due to OCD.

However the diagonal cut is best...it allows for better sandwich contents control....generally. Easier to eat, no contents falling out the bottom and no messy face bites. However I think on that type of bread...OCD gains an upper hand and I'd still go equal crust.

So what you're saying is, sliced bread is no longer the best thing?

Diagonally doesn't cut the mustard either :D - you still get full crust to top - and no grown up would cut twice diagonally to give 4 little triagles like the 'nancy boys' here in penegal and Tommy prefer!

While an interesting topic (for some), its not really travel related so I have moved to the Playground for the ongoing on-topic discussion.

In our household, Mrs NM and I are always finishing each other's .... sandwiches .... jinx .... jinx again.

Sorry for all those who will have a song playing in their heads for the rest of day :p

Today I used the diagonal cut process for my ham, cheese and tomato toastie.

Bread rolls or pita bread. No issue then.

Just when you think you've hit the bottom of conversations there's another sinkhole.
Actually with the current weather it's more of Sunicrust. ;)
Posting now? So you have re-thunked your original position and after further consideration you now realise this is a daily dilemma for a significant proportion of the population and indeed is a matter that warrants serious debate?

Hvr you are crusty old soul!

Two responses:
1) doesn't matter, provided no one is cutting your lunch.
2) WTF! DIAGONAL! Of course. What's is wrong with some people - Strange cut.... mumble, mumble, mumble

Whether you cut diagonally or horizontally, I find it is better to make two separate cuts with the knife starting in the middle and moving to the corner/edge. As the crust is the toughest bit of the bread, this method stops the sandwich being squashed.
