Folks,

i am booked on QF12 LAX to SYD on Tue 15th Dec at 10:30pm. The flight was booked via AA and is economy restricted. My seat is 39J and when I look on Check My Trip seat map it shows the seat config where 39J is in the premium Economy cabin with a 2-4-2 layout.

Is there any way I can confirm that my 747 has this layout and i am indeed in the PE cabin. I ask this because I asked QF to move me from 72K to 39J based on seeing it free on Check My Trip and was surprised when they did.

Steve

Yes, E/F is showing rows 36-39 as being sold in economy.
You have a PE seat.

Two rows of skybeds are being sold as Y+ as well.

Interesting that QF would still run this seatplan so close to Xmas. I guess loads in J still haven't increased sufficiently.

Thank you so much. That eases some of the pain seeing I was meant to be booked business all the way from Perth to Boston and return but the project ran out of money.

Two questions...

1. I couldn't find "E/F" in the abbreviations
2. How can I best try to get better/seats/upgrades on the other legs especially the A380 from SYD-LAx on 2nd Dec (QF11). I currently have 53K on this flight but the AA flights LAX-BOS and return have me at the back of a B737.

Steve

Qantas Gold, halfway to LTS, Emirates Silver, AA nothing.

E/F is Expert Flyer, a paid subscription service that lets you look up seatmaps, flight availability, that kind of thing.

As far as the A380 goes - you're a month out from departure and there are still a heck of a lot of seats unoccupied. I'm no expert on the best seats on QF's A380, but seatguru.com can help. As a QF Gold member you should be able to select your seat online. Check seatguru, and pick your favouite seat, you'll have a choice of most seats in economy I imagine, with the exception of exit rows (paid for) and some closer to the very front which may be Platinums-only.

If you join AAdvantage (free of charge) you will be able to do your own seat allocation on AA. If you put in your QF booking reference it will allocate an AA reference and you will then have access to the AA segments. I have SYD - DUB via LAX/ORD and was able to book both AA segments with lots of choice - but it is for August 2010
