flying from San Fran soon to Syd. Flight is with Qantas and its in J class (QF74).

I hear the KLM lounge is pretty bad/super basic and Cathay is nice but only apparently let first 10 Qantas travelers in so if you are late, you miss out.

I also have gold status with Etihad. Whilst its not Oneworld airline, can I access one of the lounges that belongs to that program without having a ticket ?

Any other options?

thanks in advance!

You can choose from the AF/KLM Skyteam lounge or CX if they'll let you in. No to EY as you are not flying them or their partners. There is also a BA lounge but it's awful.

See here and note QF isn't even listed but send pax to the AF lounge. https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access

in the KLM lounge right now. I have to say, its pretty disappointing. Packed and lacking basics like shower facilities.

Qantas should partner with Cathay and help them expand their lounge so they can start accepting QF passengers there as its a bit of a joke. I am flying for business but if I bought a J class for personal trip, I would expect better lounge than this for the money they charge.
