I am travelling through China with the wife and would like to treat her to some luxury following an extensive tour. I am looking for comments and recommendations for the better Hilton in Beijing. We enjoy food and wine and would like to try some good restauranta and prefer to stay in or close to the hotel.

What is the difference in the business and executive lounges for the two properties (Hilton Beijing and Hilton Wangfujing) as I'm thinking executive floor access would be a great treat for her, especially coughtail hour.

Im HH Gold if that helps. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I have stayed at the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing (Oct 2012), and I can say without a doubt that it is the BEST Hilton I have EVER stayed at. As HHG, they upgraded me to a suite (I think I already booked a King Plus or similar). On arrival, I had a high-tea style arrangement of little treats in the room, and no less than THREE welcome notes (one typed general note explaining my benefits, one hand-written welcome card explaining my treats, and a hand-written card from the GM, which was very stylish).

The bath and shower (no, not a 'shub'), was a separate 'room' within the bathroom, and had a TV. The bathroom had his-and-her sinks, a double door entry, the minibar was an entire cabinet, and the room was *huge*.

The exec lounge was at the end of the top floor, and gave some decent views. I believe there was a coughtail hour and some other niceties, but I was more interested in seeing Beijing (I did still use the lounge for my free Diet Cokes after a day of walking). I'll dig up my benefits letter and give you a few details.

As a gold, you are allowed to have breakfast in the main restaurant, which is simply a phenomenal spread (both western and Asian dishes), and there are egg chefs, and the restaurant is very well-appointed.

I'll post a few pics here tomorrow (or rather, later today), but you really won't be disappointed with this hotel.

Also, the GM emailed me about a week before arrival to give me an early welcome to the hotel, and mentioned that I had already been approved for a generous upgrade, and offered their personal contact details should I need any assistance. They also sent through printable (Mandarin) cards to hand to taxi drivers, which I didn't have to ask for, and offered to arrange transport from the airport (which I didn't need).

I would literally fly back to Beijing just for this hotel...... and I'm serious haha!!!

I have not stayed at the other PEK Hilton, though why would I? :p They were also building a Waldorf Astoria just next door (I'm not sure when that opens), so perhaps have a look and see also? :)

Hi ChrisCh

thanks for the recommendations, it does sound very nice and they looked after you. Will have more of a look into that property.
