Hoping I can get advice from the community on the following scenario:

I'm travelling to Thailand later in the year and as part of my employer's travel policy I have to travel on TG. I will be travelling in J class. I'm a Virgin Platinum and Qantas silver member.

My next overseas trip is possibly (not certain) in December 2013 to SFO or LAX otherwise all my other trips will be domestic.

Should I join the Royal Orchid Plus Program or should I consider joining another star alliance program member such as United on the possibility of a trip to the USA?

Regards
