First time in Dubai.

Have 4 nights at the end of July and looking to get an idea of the areas so that we can narrow down our accommodation hunt.

We are a couple with no kids, like eating out (with a few drinks) and spending time exploring the local culture/cuisine/sights. Don't need a beach. Would like to be based in an area that offers a good selection of restaurants etc as well as short walking distances to the sights (if that's at all possible).

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance :)

I stayed for a week recently down in the Jumeriah Beach Resort (or JBR) area and was quite happy. Some great restaurants in the Boardwalk area, some good shops, was close to the light rail so easy to get to the centre of town etc

I'd agree with the same general area as Milboo. Mine was the Hilton The Walk. The Walk is a nice restaurant strip.

Not close to the main sights of Dubai, but close to the Metro which will take you to them.

Wherever you decide on, you may want to check what the construction is like in the area/next door. Could be 24/7 construction and a real downer.

We have booked an apartment for a three night stay later in the year at the Flora Park Apartments near the Deira City CenterPort Saeed Road, Dubai.
Appreciate some advice as to the location as a base for touring (there is a train station nearby)
Thanks

Good point! I stayed in the Movenpick JBR and there was construction across the road during the day. I was in a lowish floor initially and they happily moved me to a higher floor to avoid it.

That seems like a good place to base yourselves. The creek and the Deira area is very interesting.
