Hi, I want to go to coughet in a few months time, there are so many airlines flying directly or indirectly there. Has anyone been recently and what is your choice and experience? Thanks

+1 for V Australia.

Dont be afraid to try Thai Airways if the timings are right for you - they are good too for Y product.

Which class (presumably Y)?

Without dates I can't compare up on prices, but otherwise my vote would go either VA or MH. VA are the only full cost carrier that flies direct from Australia. MH have good legroom in their Y and if you're in the mood you can stop off in KUL along the way (depends on pricing, though). Not sure about MH's service, however (last time I flew them was 2006, and they were so-so).

JQ I'd only give if Star Class was on special and a comparable price to VA Y. That's probably not going to happen any time soon.

V Australia also fly direct from Melbourne, so it would work well. If you fly Thai, you would need to transit through Bangkok.

There are couple of trip reports on here for V Australia flights to coughet, you should check them out. IMO even if your flying Y, VA offers a superior product.

I flew there last month with jetstar (I was in star class, my travelling companions were in economy). I booked that before V aus started their flights, otherwise I probably would've booked them instead, just to avoid transiting through Sydney.

The jetstar flight was really pleasant (even up the back) and the ground staff were incredibly helpful.

Flying out of MEL, the best way to go is on either VA, or TG (Thai), as they are both full service carriers, and have better seat pitch than say JQ.
VA is a direct service to HKT, where as TG flies via BKK. Price would probably favour VA.....................

Cheers Dee

They're better priced, plus go direct.

This should be an easy decision unless your heart is set on seeing BKK.
