Hoping to be (dropped to ) gold status at the time of the flight. Unable to maintain platinum for this year 😑. Husband is platinum . He is on reward flights to London from Sydney return he does have mobility and stamina issues. Our trip is first two weeks of Dec I am fat so hate economy lol . I will be travelling PE My only real proviso is I either land same time as husband or I have the facility to go home and get car so he doesn't have to fuss with the bus (we live quite close )
My current options that I can see

1) fly with husband on JAL and have the advantage of two shorter flights however currently second leg is over two hours longer due to Russian issue . Same flight going over Different airline coming home . JAL doesn't seem to have sales ? Price is definitely nice

2) fly Cathay , same flights as husband coming home . No time 🙄 sadly for one of first class lounges due to connection times

3) holey heck BA want $7520 for premium economy on my dates 😳 I used to pay less than that for business from Qantas

4) wait for sales ? Do a connecting flight from SE ? Try a brand new airline ?

5) any other suggestions?
Thanks for reading my tome:)

Don’t rely on sales too much at the moment. I don’t think long haul pricing will change a whole lot until 2024. Not seeing that much capacity coming back into the market until later next year.

JAL is great just book it I’d say.
