Hi everyone,

I am taking QF926 SYD-CNS on 02/02 and was wondering which exit row to take? Read on seatguru that row 13 was locked by the FA's for take off and landing and was wondering if that makes any difference in comfort for the exit rows?

I thought exit rows were blocked off for WP members, but as a SG I have access to both rows.
Also is Emerald City really that big, taking up 7 rows (4-10)?

Cheers in advance.

Your seat has to be upright on take off and landing, so shouldn't make any difference to comfort.

Emerald city is not really a term that I associate with a 737. But let's work with it. Platinum/emerald are able to select from row 6 backwards. Rows 4 and 5 are reserved for platinum one and chairman's lounge members.

It won't make any difference to your comfort, as no-one will be reclining during that period anyway, all seats must be upright for take-off and landing. They (and row 12) are locked so they cannot impact into the exit rows inadvertantly, should they ever need to be used. That's my understanding of it anyway, though am happy to be corrected.

I prefer row 13 as IMO, it means you are less likely to have anyone jiggling/kicking into the back of your seat from the seat behind, which I find really irritating if it is prolonged. It is another exit row behind, so more space between them and you.

I've had a few seats that have reclined during take off and landing without my input. Usually an interesting experience if you're not expecting it. Then there are always those few who ignore the crews instructions.

I understand that the seat is required to be upright for take off and landing if I'm more curious as to if the seat is any different because of the locking feature (smaller, stiffer, etc).

Sorry if I misused "Emerald City" still trying to figure out what everything means specifically. Interesting to see (IMO) so many rows blocked off for status pax, which is a good thing I guess.

I think you just persuaded me to change to row 13, didn't think of it like that.

Had a broken seat across the aisle from me once, very interesting to see the way the FA treated the matter. Walked past twice telling the passenger to raise his seat, and on the third time reached over and pressed the button for him only to find that the seat was broken despite the passenger telling the FA the seat was broken earlier.

I think they are only subtly different. ;) the only risk is if the FA forgets to unlock the seats after takeoff. Otherwise the same.

It wasn't really a misuse of the term. Just surprised that you used it. But once you did, it made sense and was appropriate. Emerald city was coined for the first 3 rows of business on the qantas A380s, I think. These are in a little private sort of cabin. Rather funny to apply it to a 737.

Row 13 it is I guess, less likely to get knee'ed in the back, not to mention the shorter walk on and off the plane. Lazies is lazies I guess :)

Ah ok, I just thought EC was referred to as the blocked seats for WP/OWE pax. Never knew it was meant as the secluded J seats on an A380...

I had 14A this morning, with a small child kicking the cough out of the back of my seat until I cracked and politely asked if they might stop :)
Row 13 would be better.

That's where you recline at speed. :) :) :) :)
