Bump......

Still haven't chosen a hotel yet, Would anyone have any recommendations; as it seems way too hard in my opinion!

Paris, Hollywood, MGM, NY, Monte Carlo, Polo, Flamingo and lastly Bally's have seems to been crossed of my choices, due to way too many bad reviews from many sites...

Hard Rock is away from the strip (too far away?) and Treasure Island seems in the middle, which are currently on my maby list...

I can't even book until upto 6 months before check in, as tge agent doesn't have anything till then.

Sorry so long, but I can't get my head around it all! Most reviews say that pools are always closed in November (maby winter, BUT if it's still good weather and heat...

There's usually ALOT of Las Vegas hotel deals, start your search here Las Vegas Codes and Promos - FlyerTalk Forums

What kind of hotels are you after? Do you like cool & funky hotels, young at heart - like Planet Hollywood? The Palms? Do you like more classic luxury with exceptional service - Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, Encore ? Do you like / don't like large hotels (as alot of very large)? Do you want comfortable apartment living - Aria, Vdara ? Or maybe you just don't care - think Luxor, Excalibur and more.

There are sooo many options in Las Vegas that caters for any budget! I personally like Planet Hollywood in a Bellagio Lake AND Paris Las Vegas view room. It's amazing to see the fountains at night plus seeing the Eiffel Tower all lit up to the right. The rooms are pretty modern, its a cool funky vibe .... just be mindful that there can be lots of young college types on the weekend though.

We enjoyed another stay at the Mandarin Oriental prior to X-mas - It's still our favourite.

I've stayed at:-
MGM
Paris
Caesars
Planet Hollywood
Four Seasons
Mandarin Oriental

I stay at THE hotel at Mandalay bay, but got a great deal at ARIA for next week so checking that out instead.

Realistically vegas isn't about your room it's about everything else!

Also some hotels will nickel and dime you with all sorts of nonsense so read the fine print.

I stayed at the MGM, it wasn't pricey and more than satisfactory. I just enjoyed Vegas as a whole!!

We have stayed at Treasure Island a few times and been very happy with rates and the position close to the Fashion show mall which suits the shopping needs too. The Bellagio seem to have a special on at the moment with the 5th night free go to their site for details

Last year, we stayed at the we Octavius Tower at Caesars, but would not recommend this place.
The walk from the foyer to the lifts was horrendously long towing our cases, the wait for the lifts either up or down was another 10-20 mins each way, and from the lift to our room on level 64 was prob another 500 mtrs. But the view was magnificent ! Pool areas were spectacular!
3 yrs ago, we stayed at Planet Hollywood, better prices, a view over towards The Bellagio water feature, which was priceless. This was good, but you had to pay extra for a pool chair. We were advised to steer away from PH, as it appears to be in need of a spruce up.
First visit to Vegas, a group of us stayed at the Tuscany Suites & Casino, it was off the strip, and fun location but away from the buzz. Next time, I would like to stay at MGM, Aria, Venetian or the next newly opened venue on the strip.
Don't forget, most places charge a resort fee to have basic use of their pool area, then may charge an extra fee to book a pool lounge or charge to visit their day club! You get what you pay for!
I hope this helps!

Also in LA, I do like to Holiday Inn Express Walk of Fame, it's an easy quick walk to Hollywood Blv, eateries, tour departure point nr the Chang's Theatre. From the front door you can see the Hollywood Hills sign. Staff were friendly. Room prices reasonable and included buffet breakfast.

Sorry should have added for NYC we stayed At Hilton Times Square North. Great position, large rooms and they will give you a small fridge if you ask. For LA we loved The Élan hotel in West Hollywood - free wine and cheese of an evening and have previously stayed at the Holiday Inn Santa Monica.

L.A. ..... I prefer Santa Monica ....... Current haunt is the Shore Hotel - ocean front ...1515 Ocean Ave ....normally an easy run from Lax via Lincoln Blvd. Always get good food and drinks at 'Blue Plate Taco' that is part of the property.
NYC ...... The Library Hotel ..... boutique hotel smack bang between Grand Central and the New York Public Library ..... good roof top bar / eats in the warmer months Benjamin Steakhouse right across the road is always good.

I just recently booked from Travelzoo.com for NYC the new Hilton Garden Inn Central Park x 2 beds for $189 incl taxes and Bellagio x 2 beds for $135 excl taxes and includes tickets to Zarkana Cirque De Soleil for May travel.

Loews Santa Monica
Treasure Island Las Vegas
Marriott Marquis in NYC
are all hotels I would use again.
Your task is to get a really good price so you don't feel a vacuum cleaner is draining your pocket too quickly.
Pass on Hollywood as the area is too mixed to enjoy.

I just stayed at Mave in NYC. It's not in a bad location, especially if you don't want to be super near to Times Square but close to the Empire State Building. It's on 27th & Madison.

The hotel is modern & clean & great value for Manhattan.

My last stay in Vegas was at the Mandarin - highly recommend. It's amazing just what a difference coming out of the elevator to the front door, no line for taxis, use of the Hotel car etc makes.

Also stayed at the Four Seasons which I found a little remote.

On our recent trip we stayed at Elara in Vegas, huge corner suite on high floor. In NY stayed at Conrad twice and also Doubletree Times Square. The Conrad is in a great area, peaceful, residential with multiple surrounding eating places and also a Wholefoods market across the road. Only downside is a slight walk to the metro (10 minutes).

hello,

just come back from the usa and can help you out a bit, stayed at the encore in a huge tower suite….was nice and you definitely get what you pay for there. stayed in the tower section and you get your own check in and personal concierge lifts shorter distance to rooms etc otherwise the slightly cheaper regular suites are exactly the same just located in the main section of the encore. The only problem i had was that it was a little to far away from all the action and would recommend staying somewhere closer to the middle of the strip. (especially if your a drinker it takes a little while to walk whilst your under the influence ;) )
also stayed at the Luxor as well and would recommend staying there the only let down being your at the bottom of the strip and far far far away from everything if you plan on walking. Otherwise taxis are everywhere and there is a bus stop out front every hotel which you can use for $8 u.s which gives you a 24hr pass.

also stayed at the Hilton along the avenue of the americas (car of 54th and 6th) and could not fault that place at all, stayed there on 3 separate occasions now and i keep going back. It's close enough to 5th avenue, times square and central park yet not to close that you get annoyed by the millions of visitors that New York gets. (although to be honest you can't really escape that!) been upgraded to better and bigger rooms now for no cost every time now. I would also recommend trying halal guys street food just outside its seriously the greatest and the lines are always long!

if your after any more tips on other places give us a p.m I've been to heaps of places and tried different hotels all over the states!

Heard a very good tip for checking into Las Vegas casino hotels, which is basically most of their hotels.

Have a few thousand US dollars on hand and when you check in, pull it out and ask if they can do you a favour and change this into chips. Apparently this makes it more likely you will get an upgrade to a much better room, for obvious reasons. Of course after you have settled into the room you go down to the casino and change the chips back into US dollars.
