Hello!
I'm in Cairns catching up with the Squeeze but she's working tonight (and also new to Cairns). Any suggestions for dinner for me by myself the next 3 nights and anywhere else recommended?
Thanks!
1 C'est Bon in Lake st, best restaurant in Cairns for dinner
2 RSL on the nard (esplanade) good prices ,good views(but are doing renos atm).
3 Bar and Grill at the pier, good meals ok prices (twenties crowd)
4 Mondos at the Hilton on the waterfront, great for lunch, ok prices
Prices can be exy, beware...
Welcome to Cairns, enjoy!!
Do yourself a favour and make the time to eat at Palm Cove or Port Douglas. Very good options at both and a better atmosphere for mine.
Voted No. 1 restaurant in Cheap Eats for all of Australia is Bagus Cafe at 149 The Esplanade.
It is an Indonesian cafe with tables on the footpath. The owner, Bagus, is a very jovial man.
The Bebek Goreng (Crunchy Fried Duck), at $15, is to die for.
Can't beat Mondos for location but I find the food quite average. I've enjoyed Simply Italian (new name) inside the Hilton. Other places I've had good experiences: Fetta's Greek Taverna, and Petit Cafe (great crepes, daytime only though). Matsuri Japanese has also been very good.
And a favourite is the Raw Prawn. Superb range, with a very decent lunchtime special menu.
I'm wondering if the newish Simply Italian is solely a change of name or is it a more comprehensive change?
