Apparently a new company has taken over the food + drinks as of yesterday. Anyone know much about it and when the good beers will be back?

On a related note, I'd like to know what possessed them to replace the wines with what is currently being served? The Rosemount wines are (unsurprisingly) awful - especially compared to the wines that were being served previously. Please bring back the "Angel of the Abyss" Shiraz!

I noticed Asahi was missing from the BNE Lounge yesterday. At the time I was thinking they might just have run out. Will be disappointed if it is gone for good as it is one good thing that sets Virgin apart from Qantas.

Yes our new catering contractors started Monday, and yes, we have a new beer range.

Beez Neez has been swapped out in the Summer refresh (is this where i should duck?), but Fat Yak stays - it may simply have temporarily out of stock due to the thirsty crowds we've had through of late!

Other changes that your taste-buds should be aware of:

We have consolidated to a core range of 6 beers - Corona (or Great Northern in QLD), Fat Yak, Crown Lager, Pure Blonde, Cascade Premium Light, Strongbow Apple Cider, which means that you can no longer expect Beez Neez, Asahi, Pure Blonde White & Pure Blonde Naked.
We have also introduced Victoria Pale Lager, Carlsberg, Cascade Premium, and VB in selected lounges as part of the extended range, and swapped out Strongbow Clear for Apple Cider (Pear also included in some extended ranges).

Why the change?

This is simply a refresh for the new season. All feedback is welcome!

Also, our Wine list also change over quarterly and we are in the transition period from the early October change.

As for food, stay tuned for menu refresh, based on member, AFF and Guest feedback in the not too distant future.

Maybe i should duck for cover too. I reckon beez neez and fat yak are two of the most rancid beers in existence. There aren't too many decen beers in the fridge in the Lounge. Corona is hardly classified as beer, but at least you can quaff it.

I certainly hope the next wine list change is going to be a marked improvement .. putting on Rosemount wines is a substantially downmarket move..

Please please please don't take away the Gabbiano Asti!!!!! Absolutely beautiful sparkling - which was also the consensus of many other guests in the MEL lounge yesterday when the VA staff came around offering it by the glass.

I am a beer snob, so micro brews are my go. Coopers red is good if i want a mainstream brew.

Nothing wrong with a crownie providing it is so cold there are ice crystals forming in it:mrgreen:
Way better than that Pure Blonde muck.
Anyway, i really am sounding like a massive beer snob.
