Where does AFF stay in Singapore?

Hi AFF,
I was wondering, where does everyone like to stay in Singapore? My girlfriend and i will be visiting from April 2-6 and i am feeling a little overwhelmed by the options. We would be looking for the following:
- Close walking distance to MTR
- Walk in shower
- Queen or King Sized bed
- Budget of around $250 a night

I have had a couple of ideas but would love to hear from the experts instead. As this is her first overseas trip in years i would love to have a great first up experience so that she wants to go on many more.

Grateful for any and all advice.

(I am being flippant , but I do note it is a nice hotel, but I am sure there are plenty of other hotels that meet your needs, which others with more experience of staying in hotels in Singapore can advise).

It's interesting you single that out (I'm obviously not sure if you have a mobility reason for it).. I personally consider walk in showers to be a big plus. I have no idea why, I just think they are so, so much better than shower baths.*

Singapore is generally expensive and prices vary week to week, so I'd more be using a booking engine for those dates.

Pick a few, then look into them on the various review sites.

Not close to the MRT, but easy bus ride into town is the new-ish Hotel Indigo Katong. Stayed there last July and loved it.

This might be a little over budget , think my last visit was $300/night inc Breakfast but will get you some brownie points :

I just stayed at the Four Points Sheraton. For a smaller room it was actually a great use of space. Location is nice enough, but I don't think it was that close to a MTR station (was a work trip).

Personally, I'd stay around Suntec over Orchard.

Keep in mind that taxi's, Uber, Grabb rides are ridiculously cheap compared to Australia.

Some minor issues that could be exacerbated after a busy day. It's just nicer to not have to worry about it, knowing we can step in the door and straight into the shower.

I actually stayed here when it first opened on a layover. It's definitely an option, but will need to look at transport.

Personally, I'd stay around Suntec over Orchard.

We stayed at the Quincy Hotel in October, and really enjoyed the place - quirky but comfortable . The room was very good, with separate walk in shower and a large bath. It has a good pool up on the 12th floor with glass walls. Also, if you book direct and pay in advance, you can get some good deals - including free drinks and lots of nibbles from 6-8pm each night. It's only a few minutes walk down to the corner of Scotts & Orchard Roads, where you can pick up the MRT or buses.

If you're with Vodafone and not there too long, consider the $5 roaming. It can't be beaten for convenience.

May be not in budget we tend to stay at the Conrad and Pan Pacific both close to MRT. Personally I agree with Daver6 and also prefer to stay in the Suntech area.

For sims the Singtel tourist sim is a cheap option.

I also book rooms with a walk-in shower. In my several stays at the Conrad the rooms have had both a shower and separate bath. A little bit above your price range (usually) but a solid option.

5 minute walk to MRT. Other touristy options within walking distance but also many of the tourist buses depart from the little mall across the street (eg to the zoo), which makes it quite convenient but not too crowded area for a first time stay.

I am another one that likes the Suntec area, and particularly the Conrad. The Fairmont at Raffles City also would be a good option if the price is right. Right over a mall and MRT (subway) station.

My favorite is Swisshotel Merchant Ct. Not budget but central to Clarke Quay, shops, MRT and Chinatown.

Another vote for Wanderlust Hotel. Have stayed there a few times. Breakfast is usually included in room rate. Great location in Little India (assuming you enjoy Indian food of course).

Location wise, hard to beat the Fairmont/Swissotel. It's above the 2 oldest, main lines of the MRT.
I regularly stay at the Conrad which is a short walk to both lines, but also right next to 2 other lines, giving it as good access depending on where you are heading.
Conrad, as above, meets all your points except budget. If you book a sale rate you should be fine.

Well within your price range is the Novotel Clarke Quay. It adjoins a MRT that opened in October 2017. Rooms are large by Singapore standards at 32 sq.m and has a walk in shower with separate bath. Hotel is nothing to look at from the outside but well appointed rooms.

If you are a Accor loyalty card holder you can use your free night, half price meals and on a promotion (which should be due soon ) sometimes get a 30 or 40% discount.

Hotel is very well located at Clarke Quay.

I was just looking at that earlier today for a stay in Oct (a DSC LWE!). More recently stayed at Suntech (PanPac a couple of times) but never around Clarke Quay. I'm attracted to the fact that it will be very central.

Accor have a 10% of stays in Asia promo at the moment for flexiable reservations. So I think I'll do that and keep looking for a better option or inevitable Accor sale.

Probably not the right place to ask but has anyone stayed at Hotel 81 Changi? Looks ok and not far from the airport near the MRT.
