Where did you visit for its geographical significance?

Azores - 6 out of the 9 islands, all different
Nordkapp - North Cape lat. 71N
Been past, or to, a number of other major capes/points - Leeuwin, Passero, Finnisterre, Lands End, Fastnet Rock, Cape Sable, Maatsuyker (where they make the wind wch they send to the rest of the world..) and a few others. Oh, and Guantanamo back in the last 70's on a yacht that happened to have a marine major who knew someone there.. Officers mess was a pretty swanky place for a young colt.. Its quite a large port and airbase, with local Cuban staff coming in daily to work in laundry, mess, cleaning etc.

Now post the Toblerone one!
Interestingly due to “Geographical indications” Tobelerone is no longer allowed to be promoted with images of the Matterhorn.
Because it is no longer a Swiss product (US owner and manufactured outside Switzerland ) it falls foul of the new regulations. (in a similar manner to Champagne v sparkling wine.)

Interesting. I just looked for the photo and found that story from 2023.
I also recall holding up a Canadian $20 note in a photo at Moraine Lake in the Rocky Mountains years ago. I think the money has changed since then. (note not my photo)

Straits of Hormuz March 2020 - forgot about this bit of geography until today.. A series of deep fjiords & islands , all of it dry rocky and steep. We cruised on a private boat from Dubai and, on clearing into Oman at Pt Khasab, were told we were the 4th/5th boat to cruise there in the last 12 months, so not a lot of tourism..

Came back from that trip to spend 2 weeks in home Qtine but it was worth it .. 1772502610850.jpeg

Another one from the old East West German border. Apparently you can cycle, walk, whatever the whole length of the border. The concrete track is very typical of the former Eastern European countries.

Maybe not a geographical reason, but I went through this border post into East Germany by car in about 1984, so I had to revisit now. It's set up as a museum.Screenshot 2026-03-03 163433.pngScreenshot 2026-03-03 163446.pngScreenshot 2026-03-03 163459.pngScreenshot 2026-03-03 163527.png
