Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Keep in mind that QR awards have suddenly been made available because they have moved to Avios.

QFF J and F and EK F awards still almost nowhere to be found.

PSA: Looks like QR have released more J reward seats. Just booked two for Jan 2023 that weren't available a few days ago when I last checked.

Indeed, Thanks

I have a MEL-PER-DOH in J for June, still nothing ex MEL for my date but there is now availability ex SYD or BNE....i think ill stick with going via PER (A350 Q Suite)

QF website doesnt allow you to search from DOH. Just search a SYD-DOH return with the dates you want for DOH-SYD

Just booked 2 QR J rewards bookings FCO-DOH-SYD in OCT. Have been checking availability regularly and previously nothing until I found these today. Quite a bit of availability in Oct. Sadly neither flight has the Q suite I believe.

OK - I've been trying to get J flights PER-NRT-DFW(and onwards), and have been able to get them using AA points, but would prefer to use some of the many QF points we have. Have just done as suggested on QF a dummy trip NRT-PER-NRT which now shows the PER-NRT leg available on AA points, now being available using QF points. How do I now drop the leg I dont want and book the one that I do? If I can use this work round, I would like to use the QF points for the next legs of our trip.

A few pages upthread there was comment about reward seats that QF are not choosing to make available.. as a general comment it is also possibly more likely the partner airline is not making them available - we wouldn't know unless we were within QFF and had any idea of the intra-alliance agreements which may specify any limits on such things - for xample while QF, BA and QR may all be in oneworld, they still have, as I understand it, individual agreements between the individual airlines.

Just a general comment.

As a data point: I had Safari and Firefox open logged into two separate WP accounts at 9:59AM and 10:59AM.

I searched QF SYD-BKK on one and SYD-SIN on the other for 353 days in advance. Both only show Y awards. No U Class for either and no P Class for SIN.

Suffice to say the QF 353 day rule is dead.

Thats exactly what I think too. But maybe just selected routes at the moment. I did manage to get 2 J awards several times at the 353 day mark to BKK/SIN before the pandemic, not now!

Dear brains trust,,
1)Are there less classic reward seats available now than (what was once considered) 'normal'?

2)If possible to find and book, are there more problems with them than 'normal'? (Eg: Business reward seats altered to economy with no notification or correspondence.) I haven't been aware of this prior to current Qantas customer service issues?

I would have said there’s more seats. I think Qantas has said this too?

I don’t think #2 is a common occurrence, however I think there’s a higher chance of international flights being cancelled.

1) you're probably seeing a lot of people with a lot of saved up points, and not a lot of travel in the last 2 years, snapping up awards as travel opens up again. Increased demand may not mean less initial availability

No doubt.

It's hardly surprising, since there's a huge backlog of unredeemed points from the millions of customers who haven't been able to burn them on travel for 2 years.

Now everyone has a ton of points and wants to use them. Add to this the fact that flight timetables are still not back to normal, and the result is that demand greatly exceeds supply.

School holiday dates are harder again.
