I am looking to take advantage of double staus credits and put my son and husband over to gold, I am looking at a trip ex Rockhampton to Cairns this weekend. However I have struck an odd thing. On the return journey i.e Carins to Rockhampton on Sunday 29 January, they can fly Carins -Townsville (change flight numbers), townsville to Rockhampton (change of flight numbers), and rockhampton to Brisbane. Now to book the same flight Cairns to Rocky is no business class and $425 on a flex while to book the full sequence costs $488 and is listed as business. So I know the flights are on an embraer, so Is it business class, and if so, what happens to my status credits if i book business class for the full sequence to Brisbane, but get off in Rockhampton, and not take that final flight? It would save me $348 over the regular trip via Brisbane, so am keen to know.

Flights to Rocky are not part of the J network, so I am not sure how it will work.

I am not sure i completely understand what your proposing, so I have no advice to give. But I should mention that changing flight numbers is irrelevant for VA, they give status based on booked route, CNS-BNE in your case. What would be interesting is what status/points you get if you do get off the aircraft in Rocky, as booked or as travelled.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I understand what you are trying to do, fly this:

DJ164215:15 PM Cairns16:05 PM Townsville

DJ190616:40 PM Townsville17:45 PM Rockhampton
DJ125220:25 PM Rockhampton21:25 PM Brisbane

Booked as J but get off at ROK and hope to get the full J SCs etc, which I cannot see an issue with apart from the awkward explanation at ROK!

Wouldn't be too much of an explanation as it's a different plane. The TSV aircraft goes onto SYD.

I'm not really sure how it'd work with the points/SC's. I'd assume that you would be "offloaded" in ROK and the entire trip would be forfeited so you'd probably get nothing.

When you do a retro claim for this flight you will get the following message:

Our records indicate that you did not board this flight and it is therefore ineligible for Points/Status Credits

Nothing to do with TSV, the explanation would be awkward at ROK as a I mentioned, specifically why you were not getting back on. checked baggage would also be interesting.

Sorry, didn't word that clearly. The TSV-ROK aircraft then operates ROK-SYD. The OP would disembark in ROK and then wait for the last flight of the evening to BNE. In this case, the OP would be back at home before boarding so they wouldn't have to speak to anyone.

That makes more sense! Not sure it will work as others have posted in regards the SCs etc.
