When to Redeem Qantas Miles for Emirates Flights - by the Points Guy team.

An interesting read for a Saturday morning.

I'm particularly interested in why the DXB-BKK taxes when flying EK using QFF #s is comparatively low ($21!). Does anyone know why that is? I think that might be a sweet spot on using QFF #s with low taxes (aside from domestic AA with their $5 taxes)

QF Award ex-HKG is another very cheap way of redeeming points. There are a few sweet spots of you know where to look.

Princess Fiona, do you mean CX flights with QFF #s to HKG?

- CX J one way, 65k + $84
- CX J return, 130k + $144

Agree on that, but still not as cheap as DXB-BKK at $21!

I mean flights leaving HKG using QFF points either CX or QF.
And yes it's not quite as cheap as your example.

so when I try and search for flights to Europe from HK on QF it doesn't allow anything - is there a work around?

You just need to tick the box: "Can't see your city? Show Classic Reward cities" on the red field at the top of the departure cities list.
