I'm trying to figure out if it's worth coughing the extra for a flex ticket for more SCs. I've got 290 this year, and am booking another itinerary of 6 flights which would earn me some more. Say for argument's sake the itinerary earns 200 points, but I hit silver after ten of them, does the balance 190 get paid at 150%, ie 285? If not, when does the silverness take effect, after the flight that hit 300, after that journey, or after the entire booking?

Cheers.

Sounds like you have points and SCs confused to some extent. The 50% bonus applies to points, not SCs, which keep accruing at the same pace irrespective of status.

Yes.

As per above answer increased points earning occurs immediately that you get silver confirmed.

Reading between the lines, the OP is referring to SC's and not points so the answer would be yes for FF points, but the SC earn remains the same no matter the status level. I can only assume this as they have mentioned the fact they are on 290 SC's but the next trip the first 10 "points" would earn silver so the rest must earn at a higher rate which isn't the case.

You're right, thanks, I had confused the two. FF points earn rate from flying is immaterial for me as I don't fly much and flip 4-5 credit cards every year.

With this clarification, I can confirm that the SC earn rate does not increase with an increase of status.
