What's your favourite time of day to fly?

I'd prefer a noon departure which allows enough time to sleep the night before as well as enjoy the breakfast at the lounge.

I'd say in general I'm a night owl so evening flights for LH suit me better. As per the OP the dining options are better at night.
I love QF9 as if I take an early flight from SYD I can dine at leisure in the FLounge.

I despise overnight flights from Asia almost as much as PER-SYD red-eyes. That's definitely my least favourite flight.

This. I also wish there were overnight flights from Australia to Asia apart from Tokyo.

Mid to late morning

Likewise for me if leisure travel.

If work most of my flights are around the midnight departures out of MEL enabling me to be in Asia ready to work around midday the next day.

I like the 10.30pm Adelaide - Dubai departure time. Can spend the last full day finishing many chores.

Hate - DPS - ADL flights that are around 6 hours and depart at 1am. You arrive feeling like you need a holiday. SIN departures aren't much better.

Overnight flights are my kryptonite.

A couple of years ago, I flew to New Zealand. I left Perth at 5pm local time, arrived in Auckland at around 5am local time, then had to fly to Queenstown from there. I felt like a walking corpse when I was in passport control.

Definitely. Hate that midnight MEL-SIN flight.
