I am not sure why they don't just offer a drinks only service around the east, do people really need something to eat on a flight less than 3 hours.
Sure there is. Sometimes I don't get back to Sydney until 9:30pm-10:00pm. Mum has food but it is a little late to have dinner.

Sometimes Kettle chips have been my dinner in the lounge before flight especially flying Virgin where they throw a couple of seeds at you on dinner time flights.

Cashews and pretzels on OOL-SYD on Friday and SYD-OOL today.

Also on Friday OOL-SYD I asked for the orange juice with the snack and also ordered a Carlton draught. I handed over my Amex card but she did not take it and she smiled and said "Happy Friday". ;) This was the 7:05pm flight.
