Happy Australia Day )

Could anyone tell me the cheapest F class fare Qantas offer's? I don't care which Australian airport we leave from or where we end up. I've been looking on Qantas.com.au but cheapest I can find is $8k SYD to SIN? Anything better.

Cheers

A Good rule of thumb is to look at departing from another country apart from Aus...this typically yields cheaper fares in all classes (although I haven't looked too hard at F myself !)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not from an Australian port, but I saw F for about 2900 euro FRA to SYD via LHR.

QF have a whole heap of misfiled fares for places that don't have F class service (eg I can get a F return somewhere on QF for ~$3000). The only restriction is that the maximum number of miles flown is 1876 - so this isn't usable.

But if you're after the cheapest "real" fare, then the ones on the Qantas site won't be the cheapest - a good travel agent should be able to get a discount off that.

Or you can wait (very patiently, perhaps infinitely!) for Qantas to release another "2-for-1" sale in the F cabin. Last one was about 2 years ago during the GFC.

Another option is to wait for the (nearly regular) F sale that occurs late each year for travel over the Christmas "low-business in First" travel timeframe.

If you're after an ex Australia fare then Mal is correct, the QF website is the last place you want to look, a good travel agent (and by good I don't mean big as in FC, I mean an agency with corporate or a ton of high end bookings) can access fares such as corporate netts, private fares and WOMO (word of mouth only) fares which aren't publicised online or in print.

From experience, the QF site doesn't even offer the cheapest retail fares that any TA can access.

Agents like FC (and I can talk with some authority having spent many years in consulting and management roles before venturing out on my own to specialise in high end and high touch service) will often sell you a J or F ticket at the standard retail level and then have their corporate arm ticket it on their behalf at the corporate nett, pocketing the difference.

Hope that helps.

Hmmm, seems remarkably similar to a friends' boss whose FC fare basis for a J return SYD/LAX/MCO...ORD/LAX/SYD was C*** but it was ticketed as D (priced at $12k rather than 16k - so at least they didn't change the C fare), however it was non-refundable

But a more appropriate structure would have been DCIR22 (he was happy to go & come back via NRT as no real difference in travel time), saved $2K but given the flexibility he thought he had [and wanted], plus a 10% cancellation penalty rather than 100%. The icing on the cake - he could have got an eVIP for either ORD/NRT and still saved lots of money.

at the moment the ex FRA A class is around EUR5800 on QF via LHR.

If you compare that to the first fares SYD to FRA.....
