What would you do with 1.2m Avios?

So, most of these are collected from BIS earning and I want to use them up over the next 3-5 months if possible, perhaps even sooner.

The multi partner awards seem to be the best value and would help me get closer from 83 visited countries to 100+, which is my goal before my next goal comes into play (more on that later, perhaps).

So, if you had 1.2m Avios to play with.. what would you do?

The BA equivalent of the QF OW Award. I think it’s called the BA Multi-carrier Award

Try for F x 2 for you and Mrs Flashback.

…and probably more likely to secure QR seats than using QFF points at the moment! Although limited F seat options on QR but UK-Oz ought to be in play. Then QF or AA F across the pacific (JL and CX options part the way in there). etc

Mrs FB won't be a part of it. How else could I do it?
Turn them into extreme sport?

Swap them for twisties and Fantales. I’d even throw in some chicken salt 😝

@Flashback we do tickets to all sorts of events and we get early information from our two sons. We have Paris Olympic tickets, AFL seats, Rugby tickets and netball tickets.
Netball is easy as there is adjacent parking and 4 15 minute quarters and the games are great to watch.
Last night was pretty cool at the Fremantle Dockers vs Essendon game and 43,000 braved the cold weather.
Today we are considering buying IHG points at 50% off.

Well, I've been making a pretty good dent in this as of late. Largely for last minute bookings, making use of RFS.

  • 29250 J return LON-DBV (off-peak one way, peak one way)
  • 73400 2x pax J return LHR-OTP (can't remember if any direction was offpeak)
  • 10500 Y return LHR-TLS (peak)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Another 48,000 used on J over Y back (both peak) so that Mrs FB can go to Bosnia & Herzegovina also; in and out of DBV again. Will likely pickup a car this time so we get a bit more in.

Just under 1 million to go ...... will need to think a bit harder about how to burn through the rest!

I was waiting to see how many toasters you were going to buy......

Never! I still think some of the greatest value (other than maybe the multi partner awards) is short haul RFS. The long haul RFS they introduced isn't as great IMHO.

Why are you wanting to churn through them?

In any event, repeated weekends away on mid haul EU/ME would appear as best BFYB and fit around work/social/other activity.

Shame LCY-JFK has ended - would have been a good way to burn some of them.
