Greetings all,

quick q - was wondering what to expect on the 149 as might be needing to fly in next week in J.

PJ's for an evening flight wishful thinking?? and seats?

kindest regards

You would get an amenity kit with an evening flight, but not PJs, I think. The PJs are for overnight flights on longer international routes. As for seats that are available you can do a limited number of free searches on Expert Flyer to get an indication as to what seats may still be available.

just domestic QF 737, if you can get on the EK operated flight you will at least have a decent J seat

on QF trans-tasman bar the very occasional 332 sub (I saw one in AKL a few weeks ago that operated the morning SYD-AKL) it's standard 737 J seating - basically domestic config (and sometimes is a VH registered 73H so exactly domestic). No PJ's, expect not a lot tbh.

food portions a bit bigger than domestic to be fair and service slowish, but good in general.

I suppose on par with transcon, without the suite.

Agree muchly.

plus the EK bar on the later flight back is always fun

except on my last flight where J had about 10 people in it out of 70 or whatever it is. it was stunning how empty the top deck was and Y was chockers

thanks guys for all the info. have EK F on the way back. has to be an evening flight out of SYD hence the 149.

i wonder if EK F will give me the pj's on the short sector. I could not care less since the schedule puts me on enough F flights to make a shop out of the freebies on board but flying with a first timer F and also my first trans tasman F so was curious enough.

expect a usual BNE - SYD J domestic then. thanks again for all the help

no harm in asking but generally no PJs

Just being a QF WP will be enough, taking into account the right to use F lounges, rather than PJs.
I have done the MEL and SYD QF F lounge visits, and SYD and AKL EK combo J/F lounge visit, and just being able to use them, will be a "dead" plus, no matter, if no PJs or even a 737 providing the 147 flight.
((And no, I am not a QF WP, but have paid for my various visits via flight classes)).

I have asked for and obtained pyjamas but they don't seem to stock many for the short sector, so the sizes on hand might be limited.

Confirm amenity kits and PJ's etc are not provided normally on these tag flights, but definitely no harm in asking if any are on board :)
