Hello friends. Am flying to LAX with the kids who are spending a week with their aunt at Disney etc. in late sept 2020. Myself and the wonderful women who said “yes”are looking for something different for a relaxing flop within 5 hours of LAX during that week. Then we need to go back to LAX , pick up the kids and go somewhere different again. Departure port is SYD if that helps at all. All suggestions are welcome. (It’s our 20th anniversary as well).

Five hours from LAX covers a LOT of territory.
Ski resorts, beaches, hiking, "culture/museums" ?????

Colorado/Nevada/BC, Cancun/Baja/Lauderdale, Alaska/BC, NYC/Philadelphia/New Orleans

Happy wandering
Fred

it's not clear if the 5 hours is flying or driving - unlike "fred" I assumed driving - since the time is September I would recommend one of the amazing national parks - near the Grand Canyon, or Sequoia etc .... crowds are beginning to ease off in Sept but weather should still be good.

Assuming driving.. Santa Barbara area, or going the other way La Jolla area and San Diego. Catalina is nice and is an easy ferry ride, great place to spend a few days relaxing sans kids..
