I apologise if this seems a basic question but as I have been fortunate that it has never happened to me in many years of travel, I need some reassurance.

I have a ticket with many sectors ( RTW ) starting in Brisbane tomorrow. A flight to Sydney to overnight before flying O/S on Tuesday.

What would happen if I was delayed on the drive to BNE by an accident for instance and missed my flight to Sydney?

Should i ring Qantas as soon as it looks like I won't make my flight? Will they then rebook the flight for a later time? or do you just get to the airport ASP and sort it out there?

Thanks. I'm a worry wart who usually will overnight before the start of an O/S flight but in this instance wasn't able to.

I would always ring ASAP as this offers everyone the most flexibility.

Costs and other details will depend upon your ticket type and to a lesser degree by who you speak to.

By missing the first leg you can risk having the whole itinerary cancelled on you.

Yes, absolutely call asap. As straitman says, a 'no show' on 1st leg is usually a total cancellation.

Same same but I push my luck a lot.

Plan to get to BNE ~3 hours before your flight and you should be ok. Even if you don't have lounge access.

Good luck with your trip.

Bit late now for the OP, but who do you call though?
Maybe question like this will encourage more people to buy travel insurance.
Phone 131313 and wait for hours...
The QF airport phone number and wait for how many mins, and you on your mobile, think about it, does QF still list their airport phone numbers?
Your travel agent/arranger?

Sounds like a situation where you need to make sure you have travel insurance in place.
