What time does check in and security open at Melbourne?

Hi All,
It has been a while since I last flew on EK409. What time does checkin open early morning? And what time does the airport open?
I have some vague memory of being able to check in at 3:15am, but then the security not opening until 4am.

Good question! I think this is the first international flight of the day so shouldn't be too busy at security.
I'm on that flight in a couple of week's time too. I am being picked up from home at 3.30am to arrive at 4.30am (hopefully empty roads). I hope to have enough time to check in, drop bags, go to TRS and have a quick coffee in the lounge before the flight!

On a couple of mornings, PR210 departs at 0555 hours so check in for it must open at just before 0300.

Unless things have changed, I once was at the airport all night: unlike SYD, it did not close.

Has anyone done this recently? Any update on when security opens? And am I correct in assuming that the Qantas lounge is closed at that time, so It's only the Emirates lounge available?

For anyone wondering… just went through at 2:30am, and only Emirates lounge open.

Thanks for the update. Hope that means they are back to opening security 3hrs before the flight and not 2hrs.

Does anyone know if one is able to check-in for the EK409 06:15 flight earlier than 3 hours beforehand? I'm assuming the check-in desk will be staffed as there is the EK405 03:25 flight.

I was at check in for EK409 around 4am and it was well staffed and international departures was also open - only other comparable flights departing around that time was QR to Adel and JQ to Queenstown. Very easy through security at that time. Of course QF lounges closed (do not bother opening for codeshare or JQ early departure), EK lounge open.

Great info. I booked EK409 today and wondered the same thing... sadly missing out on QF First lounge visit this trip But was hoping (presuming) the EK lounge would be open for a coffee etc from around 4am.

Couple of weeks ago I was in Christchurch and had the 6.15am to MEL... got to AP about 3.45am and breezed through bag drop in 2 minutes , confidently making my way towards Departures, the lounge and a badly needed coffee.. not so fast buddy... security & immigration didn't open until 4.30am. Lounge open was closer to 5am.
