Hi - I want to try and book 4 Qantas FF seats to the US from 28 June 08 for a few weeks over school holidays. So does everyone else, I am sure. They come up in a week or so - but does anyone know what time they release them?

Second question - I really want to fly into SFO, but looking at the seats available to date - they are all only 2 seats maximum. Does that seem right that they will only have two seats on the flight for FF? LAX flights have plenty of 4s.

Any advice would be welcomed!

What cabin are you looking for? I would expect F to be limited to one or two seats max, and J to be limited to a small number, but generally I would expect to see more than two award seats in economy, especially if you are a Gold or Platinum FF member.

Sadly economy and bronze - my life post-children has depleted my FF status - luckily not my status in their eyes!

Ahh, then I guess its a school holiday issue where Qantas believe they can sell all their economy seats for real cash rather than FF points. That is also the time when business and first class may have greater award availability.

If you have an eligible relative who is a Gold or Platinum FF member, then you could look to do a family transfer of points to their account (max of 100,000 points per membership year) and have them book. Gold and Platinum FF members get increased award availability for economy class seats (not for business or first class).

I think you are right - and I may just be out of luck. Now the tricky question - how closely does Qantas police the family relationship thing . . . .

I have never been asked to justify the relationship, although I have never abused it either and have been ready and willing to justify if asked. However, I have heard reports of USA-based QF FF members being asked for proof of the relationship.
