What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

As was reported in a different forum, was reportedly digital related in both Velocity and VAH, inc. :)

BNE doesn't exactly have the Tech population as their bigger southern city brothers.

Hey we have the internet!

A few more people successfully petitioned Jayne not to move to Brisbane outside of digital :)

Ooo, thought that the VA alliance page didn't show NH (ANA)'s logo, but it does now.
So, if NH is in, and the VA & SQ FF & SC earn alliance continues, and with the new UA FF and SC earn alliance now on, plus others, looks like indirectly, VA is already in *A.

Edit:
Velocity is still Sydney based to this day, post Bain takeover.

Whilst it was said that all Virgin HQ functions will move to Brisbane (Co-tenants taking up a few floors in the Flight Centre building in South Bank to be exact), this did 'not' include Velocity, as it is still a separate company (a (only) 'profitable' subsidiary as they say).
They did say that VFF was the most profitable group within VA, didn't they?

So they aircraft following the ‘white’ one, has been painted in full livery.

So this lone white clearly had a special scheme coming soon. Really can’t think of much else outside of Star. I’d say United is working with Virgin is help get this over the line.

That, or Bain actually convinced UA and/or Star themselves to pay for VA's Star fees.

Alternatively, it may be 'another' AFL colour scheme, in a flashback to the start of the Borghetti era (and the end of VB).

I remember over a decade ago when VB was flying a plane in all 'white' in non-revenue service with heavy speculation of the VA livery, only to pull 'psyche' and wheel out a AFL themed plane just before the actual VA livery was revealed.

EDIT: VUY was the AFL plane from memory before it was eventually reverted to standard livery. VUZ was painted into the GC Suns livery some years later.

EDIT 2: 2011 was the first year of Virgin (Blue) being the 'official' carrier of the AFL. Plausible that the ex-MI plane in question may possibly be earmarked for "10 years of Virgin Australia being the official carrier of the AFL" livery in 2022.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Speaking of this, it's NOT the first time that VA has flown plain white liveries in revenue service before. Tigerair 737s being handed back to VA were flown in plain white livery with the refitted standard VA interior.

If we go way back, Ansett's second batch of 767s and first batch with 2-crew (767-204s) were flown in mostly a blue tail and white body before it was painted properly - in other words those 767s were needed now whilst the original batch (767-277s) were being converted from 3 crew to 2 crew.

Are you saying Tigger is rising from the ashes then 😂 Star Alliance or Tigger…. Hmm let’s do an AFF poll ;)

Well we never know what might happen when it does get painted ;)
I guess if VA acquires any white painted plane, even if it's a Cessna 'Citation Jet' or a Cessna '172' for training purposes, I guess will it be asked the same 'wILl iT bE pAiNtEd iN sTaR lIvErY !!?!?!" question? ;)

Imagine if they (VA) next announce something with TG!
Can't see any VA/TG agreement going past the 'current' basic interline agreement at best. Although with SQ no longer having any ownership influence, who knows if TG (outside of any potential future Star Alliance related interlines) could 'compliment' SQ for Velocity Frequent flyer in SE Asia.

VA didnt renew their JV with various airlines and then look what happened, re DL and VA.
VA went with a competitor.
Yes, speculation is not the ideal, but hey, on the other hand, VA isnt saying a lot.
Neither is Bain.
Its been months now since they took over the "yoke", or ownership.

Yes but UA for DL is at worst like for like in terms of service frequency and routes in similar markets. TG for SQ would be a downgrade.

TG and SQ 'complimenting' each other would be good (if both have codeshare deals rather than the basic interline), but I agree that replacing SQ with TG (similar to UA replacing DL) would be a downgrade for VA in SE Asia (worse coverage).

TG's coverage would be at least similar to GA's pre-bankruptcy/pre-covid (and pre-downsized) international coverage.

Hopefully, its all good what ever they (VA/Bain) have plans for, or grin, not, but who knows for sure, even our "insiders" would not say anything too loudly.
Have flown SQ several times, but not with TG/DL/UA so can't say for sure.
But all we can do is to wait and see.

Unfortunately our best AFF insider contributor has big COI because they moved onto the Bain sale process!

Virgin cuts a quarter of flights as Omicron hits crew and travel demand

Virgin Australia has cancelled almost one-in-four of its flights scheduled for January and February as the Omicron COVID-19 outbreak disrupts crew availability and dents travel demand.
The airline said it would operate at reduced frequency on busy routes and temporarily suspend 10 routes from late January, as it continues to lose staff who are forced into isolation due to COVID-19 rules.
Virgin said COVID isolation requirements have wreaked havoc on staff availability.

Virgin Australia is dedicated to the communities that we serve and will resume these flights as soon as possible,” Virgin chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka said in a statement.
“Although we don’t know when this wave will pass, we do know that as we make the shift to living with COVID-19 there will continue to be changes in all our lives.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to any guest impacted by the changes to our flight schedule during this time.”
Virgin said it welcomed moves by the NSW and Queensland governments to allow some essential workers who are close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases to leave isolation early, and was working with governments to have that extended to aviation workers.
The airline said that in the majority of cases, customers whose flights are cancelled will be moved on to alternative services.
The 10 routes that have been suspended from January 24 onwards include Virgin’s only international route, Sydney-Fiji.
The full list of suspended routes is:

Adelaide – Darwin
Adelaide – Cairns
Adelaide – Sunshine Coast
Coffs Harbour – Melbourne
Hamilton Island – Melbourne
Sydney – Townsville
Melbourne – Townsville
Gold Coast – Launceston
Gold Coast – Hobart
Sydney – Fiji

I was told that in Melbourne of 90 odd ramp staff, around 65 were off either with covid or isolating. Sydney short staffed too but having to release staff to do short stints in Melbourne to help alleviate the pressure.

Hearing the same. They are running out of staff fast
