I have a reservation made for me by a person who works at hertzrentals.com.au for a compact, auto, unlimited K's. They emailed me the booking details with a confirmation number that does not match the reservation number format one would get if you were to book on hertz.com. I tried looking up that reservation number on hertz.com but it did not recognize it.

What is the difference?

The first address that you have listed looks to be a local Hertz WA web site and the second the standard world wide web site. One would think that the WA site 'should' use the same reservation number though:!:

I would be inclined to send an email addressed to both of them and ask for an explanation.

straitman is correct.

Hertz has franchises within Australia - eg Hertz NT, and I believe parts of WA. Also Hertz Tasmania is also a franchise. There are also a few franchises in Queensland outside of CBD areas.

Each of them have their own websites, and also accept bookings through the Hertz (main) website. The Hertz call centre can also make bookings with them.

When they make bookings themselves, I don't believe the number actually will always work on the Hertz website - as it's a local booking, not actually through Hertz.

Thanks Bill. My reservation on hertzrentals.com.au for same car, dates and unlimited km's came out to be approx $300 cheaper than at hertz.com.au for a monthly rental.
