I am just a leisure traveler and travels to SE Asia 3 times a year for holiday on SIA and THAI. I could only attain Elite Silver with those flyings. Even traveling on J 3 times a year, still not enough to get Gold let alone of that PPS Club status.

Anyone knows the best way to obtain that Elite Gold on a budget (say AUD$10K)? If you have any good ideas, please let me hear it.

Thanks in advance.

I have a month Annual Leave coming up, I'd like to get that Gold is possible.

You're probably best to ask this question at sqtalk.com or on flyertalk in the *A forum.

If you want *A Gold, that's easy... There are a few ways to do it, e.g. credit 40k *A miles to OZ within 24 months. That'll give you *A Gold. e.g. You could do this for around $2k by flying SYD-JFK twice on United.

If you want Krisflyer Gold, then you have to meet the Krisflyer requirements. i.e. fly 50k within a calendar year.

The only difference between *A Gold and Krisflyer Gold, is that you'll get access to the KrisFlyer lounges in SIN vs the *A lounges. Also, in the case of irrops, SQ should treat you better.

The only other alternative, that will get you into the Krisflyer lounges, is to credit to Virgin Atlantic. But that will only get you redeemable miles if you credit SQ flights and you won't get elite bonuses.

Aaah, not exactly, * Gold get exactly the same access to the lounges in SIN as Krisflyer golds - when flying economy that being designated * gold lounges (Krisflyer Gold in T3, TG lounge in T1 and SATS Premier Club in T3) and NOT the much better Silver Kris lounges. So really very little difference between * golds and SQ KF golds.

Plenty of ways of getting * gold as mentioned by futaris, best to refer to FT links. Even with Krisflyer in economy - two return trips to Europe and one return to BKK from east coast would get to KF Gold (by contrast on Qantas, this sort of flying wouldn't even get you to silver).

Thanks all for the info.

2 x MEL - SIN - LHR = AUD$2300ish return (4600ish total)
1 x MEL - SIN - BKK = AUD$1000ish

Total around $5600 for EliteGold. Not bad, that's doable... but the very thought of stuck in whY on a flight full of barely bathed Pommies.... errr... *SHIVER*
