Hey all, Im new here, my name is Aden!
Im a Web / New Media Designer from Sydney.

Im in the market for my first Credit card, and currently have a QFF Account with about 30,000 points in it. ive just started my hunt and have found this forum.

If anyone wants to add their opinion of what the best card for me would be, id greatly appreciate it, and a quick overview of the benefits!

What i want out of a Card.

QFF Points; Min 1 per $ Spent, with Bonus point options of some sort!
Fees; no sky rocketing fees, whats the acceptable fee?
Interest Rate; at least a standard across the board interest rate...

Bassically i want a card that will offer me the most reward points, and the best bonus offers!

Thanks for your help.
So whats the best card on the market!!

Recently ditched the ANZ Frequent Flyer Visa Card ($145 annual fee) for the Citibank Card ($99). If you book a lot of travel through Qantas, the FF card would be better for you, if you spend more then $2500 each month Citibank. Citibank card is good if you have several credit cards as you get points on balance transfers. The max amount of points you can earn annually on a Citibank card is 60,000. If you would like a referral (we both get 5000 points) for Citibank, Personal Mail and I'll sent you one.

Is the city bank card a visa card?

Id be spending about $500 per month on the card roughly!
so i want to keep my QFF flyer points ticking over!!

Ill have a look at the Citibank card, and ill give you a referal if i go with them! No problemo! thanks mate!

Anyone elses opinion on what i should get?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Citibank's a visa card. I've been getting a swag a points over the years by paying any bills that I can through the Bpay system. This can be done on the ANZ or the Citibank site. Drawback on Citibank is that you can't enter any future dates, ie pay a bill due next month were you can with other banks.

With Either of those cards, do i get 1 point for ever single $1 i spend?
plus bonus points from selected retailers .etc??? where i might earn a bonus point per $1, would this effectivly make my earnings 2 points per $1 in some cases?

Yes you do get 1 point for every $1. Best you check out there websites to see which bonus partners you may use. Amex has a maximiser card where you get 1.5 points for every dollar, no annual fee for the first year.

aden_1, without meaning to sound negative, did you perhaps fail to scroll down on the forum index page and notice that there is a section devoted to Credit Card Programs? I note that you have started three threads, all of them credit card related, and all in the wrong section.

Basically a case of "Seek and ye shall find" when n a new board. Do a bit of looking around before you start posting asking questions. Quite often the answers are already there, if not your searching will prevent you from asking in the wrong forum.

aden_1,

Welcome to the AFF forum. All thadocta was trying to get through to you was that only need to make one post in the appropriate section and you'll find that people will go out of their way to help.

The important thing to remember here is that what you get are the experiences of the individuals (ie subjective) and not necessarily all of the facts. Having said that there is a lot of good/great information available and it's up to you to take and use what ever is appropriate.

I hope that helps a little. :D

Hey straitman,

thanks very much for the welcome!
ill have a better look around before i post next time!!!

I did read your post, othrwise I would not have been able to respond to it. My point was that the credit card experts will be hanging around in the credit card forums, the Qantas FF experts will be hanging around in the Qantas forum, your United, Air NZ experts will be in the Other FF Programs forum - and so on.

My point was that if you want an answer to your question you can post anywhere. If you want a correct, well-reasoned and informed answer to your question, it is best to choose very carefully where you ask it, and the CC forums are best in your case.

I extend my apology to you thedocta, a simple miss understanding.
thanks for the help!
