I currently have Altitude Rewards which is linked to Velocity Rewards program. Thinking about moving to a card linked to Qantas FF. I want to maximise my points so I can travel to London to see my son, who has just moved there. I have never used points for international travel so a novice at this. Any help appreciated.

Welcome to AFF!

I’m no expert on cards, but if you’re looking to use points to get to Europe, I’m pretty sure you should be looking at AA and buying points from them, and then using them to get there. I don’t really pay attention when the other members talk abut AA, but I know there’s something good about what you can get ;)

For QF points you would start with the Woolworths everyday rewards for $89 and bonus starting points as this one earns a point a dollar and is a MasterCard.
Then if you want an American Express card you could visit their site to select a suitable point and a half card based on your personal situation.
Qantas also has good points earning section in their web site as QF sell points to all these institutions and you earn those points off your credit card purchases.
