What I ate today - the food thread

There is something about the plating. It is sensational.

It looked so much better than the photos portray. The restaurant was dark (like many these days), the first food shot was from my daughter's camera .... the rest were taken on my phone:(

This was a full service, first class restaurant, backed up with exceptional food.... definitely put this one on the list!

Definitely on my list! I’ve had awesome meals at Le Bernadin, Bouley, Bollin, Boloud Sud etc but had not heard of Del Posto. A reservation at Eleven Madison Park has remained elusive!

I was sad to see Bouley has closed though. That was best value fine dining lunch in town.

The kids weren't very excited about an eight course endurance event and volunteered to order room service for the night.... I was keen, but the mother wasn't :( We ended up going to Gramercy Tavern.

Arrived at 1:00am after a fairly long BNE>SYD>CGK-LOP

Breakfast delivered at 8:00am. We are right on the beach so I have posted additional photos to set the scene:

Some stunning meals here. My wallet is very pleased that predominantly all I do is look at this page and drool, but with a few contributions.

This one was 'free'

Complimentary tasting plate in a hotel stay (Brisbane airport Pullman).

I just scoped the (first bit) of their wine list. Phwoar - the Champagne ran to pages.

What did you slurp?
I just looked it up too - the table of contents goes for 4 pages!

The wine menu presented via an ipad/tablet with 190 pages of pure delight .... overwhelming could be the word!

Went up into the hills near Perth for lunch yesterday. Place is called Hopscotch. For those who know Perth, it is on the Brookton Highway near Karagullen. We shared three tasting plates - Meat, Fish & Vegetarian among 6 adults and 2 kids. We had ordered a bowl of chips plus a bowl of wedges for the kids. They had ran out of wedges so they gave us 2 free bowls of chips as an apology - very nice people.

Today’s lunch at Tantalus Estate - very good and a beautiful room. The amuse bouche was a Caesar salad. We then had the duck liver parfait with blueberry relish and chocolate jelly - the baked rye bread contained whole figs. For entree we had the Wheketere spuid noodles and Mountain River venison (with chicken skin) and for mains the Hawke’s Bay lamb and Hapuka fish. We washed it down with a bottle of their Cachette Chardonnay and had a glass of the Voile Syrah for afters.
