What I ate today - the food thread

As much as I enjoy all the fantastic culinary experiences showed here, when I started this thread, it was also to share and enjoy far more simple things. Recently I was in Paris, and is my thing, I wandered, far from the hotspots, the throngs and the famous things. And as I walked I was hungry.

I love bread. French style especially. And a simple "sandwich" with such is as great a meal as any restaurant.

And I found it.

The shop:

And the ham and salad roll I selected and truly loved was within this:

I agree, a nice fresh crunchy filled roll plus one of those lovely cakes makes a great lunch in France. I think I would go for the Jambon & salade and a flan.

A chunk of that and some sliced apple and I was very happy!

If you're still in town, Osteria del Conte for Nonna's pasta and tiramisu.

And the view from Osteria del Borgo has the best view in town, and the food is pretty good too.
Having spent many weeks in the town over the years, the best restaurant in Montepulciano is La Grotta near the church of San Biagio. Followed by the fabulous wine bar E Lucevan le Stelle for wine flights and light meals.

Lumi in Sydney, I left hungry, dehydrated and disappointed as worse dining experience ever. Staff very cold and disinterested and left me with negative feelings about the place.
