What I ate today - the food thread

Wow - that looks sensational

The food was wonderful however...

I ordered the steak tartare for starter, duck for main and the pistachio souffle for desert. After mains we had a nice break of about 25 minutes then the three pictured deserts came out. On the menu it says the souffle take 20 minutes so I guessed it would follow soon, no worries.

Another 20 minutes and still no sign of my desert I queried the wait staff - my souffle order had not made it to the kitchen.

So as nice as the food was the night was tainted by this failure at the end of the evening.

Not acceptable. Refuse to pay for the whole meal since they had destroyed the ambiance and enjoyment of the evening.

But do pay for the wine.:)

"Goat Brain" ?

Did you manage to stay awake through all that?

Finger lickin' good!

Efficient service over the 3 odd hrs ... lots of chit chat with the chefs, etc.

Out of the 25 courses - you get cutlery for 3.

Then dinner at Sexy Fish - best piece of sea bass I've ever had. The food was excellent and so good I forgot to take photos except for the desserts https://www.sexyfish.com/

And then afternoon tea at Ham Yard Hotel today (photos to follow later)

One of our favourite hotel brands (Firmdale Hotels) .... slowly working our way through their portfolio.

Snabbu - beautifully presented food and good prices too at Brasserie Lentrecote.

Perth restaurants still tend to overcharge despite the mining boom being a distant memory for most.

Just to put some balance on all you people posting such beautiful photos of exquisite meals - something different: this morning's breakfast.

I will explain. I am at work in the jungle in Colombia. Due to recent travel and time zone change I fell asleep at the "hotel" early evening, before eating dinner. I vaguely recall hearing at some point a tap on the door and a voice saying "Don Judd, your dinner is ready", but I was too out of it to care. I awoke obscenely early in the morning and went out to the site, no breakfast service at this hour. A few hours later bloke arrived on a motorcycle bringing me my "breakfast".

I opened the bag and was immediately disappointed - I was hoping for freshly cooked scrambled eggs. I realized that the hotel lady (who is also the cook, etc) had saved some time and just sent me out the dinner I had missed. It is pork and cassava. And I also remembered that almost the entire night there was no power nor refrigeration.

But I was starving, so I did what you do in such circumstances.

I ate half.

(BTW the drink is "coffee" - served in a jar as then it survives the bike ride out)
