I got the survey on IFE form Virgin yesterday .....

Dear clivem,

At Virgin Australia we are always looking for ways to improve our products and service and your feedback is the best way for us to do so.

To continue improving our products, we would particularly like to hear from our guests what In Flight Entertainment content they would want to watch on Virgin Australia's Wireless In Flight Entertainment system.

We know you're busy, but would really appreciate it if you could take 5-10 minutes to complete our survey.

The survey is open until Friday 21st November.

I so much want to say in the TV / Doc section -Air Crash Investigations; For movies - Airport , Flight .......... would Alive be pushing it ?

Seconds From Disaster?

Flying High 1 and 2.

I must say the offerings are pretty sparse compared with QF international but then it's all 100 times better than all of us watching the same movie on the 'big' screen.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

A relatively new 'feature' of VA IFE that I haven't seen written about on here is that the most recent version of the app works outside the aircraft (whilst connected to the internet) in a preview mode, allowing you to browse what's available on the system.

I'm guessing it's a step toward the "start watching IFE on your phone at the gate" concept which was outlined in the BoardConnect PR videos.

Incidentally my suggestions in the survey were also Airplane!/Flying High and Air Crash Investigations .

Would we be classified in the 'Seek Help' or the 'Seek Help Immediately' category ????

The fact that you're even bothering with the VA IFE suggests to me the 'seek help immediately' category.

The only upside of the whole IFE saga is that I can now openly use Bluetooth and it's even advertised by the crew as being acceptable. Yeh, music all the way.

The fact that you're even bothering with the VA IFE .

Yep, I'm a bit disappointed they don't refresh it enough. Highlights for me: Flight of the Conchords; Senna; and just today was enjoying The Game (Michael Douglas from years ago) and noted that End of Tomorrow is listed (worth watching if you like a bit of sci fi fan, even with Cruise in it). Got to give VA's system a rap though for in-flight announcements being at a reasonable volume level. Particularly important for the ear-bud users who have been tortured by Q's IFE over the years.

Nor have enough content. It's cough to say the least. Anyone who flyers semi regularly is in the realms of wanting to poke toothpicks into ones eyeballs rather than scroll through the 1/2 dozen items worth watching (or even less that's worth watching that can actually be finished during the flight).

As for volume, I seem to recall the content being barely audible.....but admittedly, that may have been those useless Samsung tablets. I'm not a fan of either mode.

I went through all of them in the survey - I'd have liked more box sets mostly, and agree re: lack of range as well as lack of rotation.

I love how they have the first five episodes of the first series of an older programme like Community but then only have the first few episodes of series 2 of House of Cards which is relatively new. I've been going to watch House of Cards but could hardly start on the second series. Sitcoms - you can start them anywhere.

ISTR the volume issue was actually those horrible headphones that they used to hand out - I plugged my QC15s in to the Samsung tablets and the volume was low-but-reasonably-audible.

Did this survey also, I think the IFE system is pretty good for now, although needs frequent updating.

One thing I really wish they would do is launch a new iPhone app.. The Flight Specials app looks ancient when compared to the recent QFF apps, (plus i find the VA app never works)
