I thought some here may like to have some input ...

Hilton Melbourne South Wharf Trip Reports and Reviews - FlyerTalk Forums
...

On an unrelated note, I have a question for the FT community.

What can South Wharf do to make your HH experience better?
Keep in mind that suggestions like "free internet" are - while *ahem* understandable:D - not decisions made by each hotel.

We'll be doing a department brainstorm soon, and I want to present some ideas from the dark side (ie, guest point of view) to contrast with what our internal ideas are. I'd love some South Wharf specific comments.

I'll take some bits & pieces from the wider forum as well...but your ideas are appreciated.

Have stayed there several times now. Everything from corner suite to 2 bedroom apartment and have really enjoyed every stay. The boss suffered from headaches with our first stay... The lounge had only been open a week... Must have been the carpet glues because no troubles since then. Not sure how the experience could be improved but when I get home I'll ask the boss for her views

Always have a great stay at HSW. The staff are great, never have to ask for my upgrade it is always noted and Diamond status is recognised and acknowleged.
Club lounge has good quality food and wine and the staff (especially Steve) are exceptional. They always remember me and say hi how was my day?
Rooms are fab, new, spacious, clean.
Don't really have any negative comments but if I had to think of something I would say the 'do it yourself' parking at $20 is a bit steep when staying more than a few nights.

Go to the DFS next door and get a discount card. This reduces the parking cost significantly. ;)

Ahhh thanks very much, see not what you know, but who you know and what they are prepared to tell you :)

Will def do that next time thanks. So guess that means absolutely no complaints from me. :)

50% discount of the max $28, i.e. $14?
I was not going to mention the actual amount; however for a 24 hour park, inserting hotel coded voucher shows a $20 fee. If you then insert the DFS voucher it reduces to $7. I have not tried it for multi day.

Sadly I have not been able to stay there - as the standard night's accommodation runs to $300 which is about $100 over our budget and the HSW is not a preferred hotel either :(

I read a few of the pages of posting about this over at FT. Returned from a long stay at HSW on the 7th July and it was interesting to see many of the suggestions made on FT were actually implemented already - I was surprised, but in a good way :)

Its hard for me to think of anything much that could be improved, the hotel is only a couple of years old and holding up well, the staff are just fabulous, I really can't fault the experience. If I had to find a whinge it might be in relation to weekday breakfasts in the Executive Lounge ... continental only (weekends are a fuller menu).... but even here, if you want a full breakfast and you are on the Exec floors then you just have to ask the concierge and you'll get a voucher to use downstairs in the main restaurant.

I didn't think $20 was too bad, but IIRC it is only single entry/exit. Would be much better value if there were in/out privileges.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They'll park it for you with multiple entry for $45 (iirc) per day.

At least you get hhonors points for that.:p

Its a bit rich eh? $45 a day.

I had multiple entry, self park at the Hilton on The Park on the other side of town for $20 / day - you just talk to the front desk and they keep giving you the right parking slip whenever you want to leave the hotel for a time.

They could answer their phone... just spent 10 minutes hold.

Trying to book tommorow night surpise for my parents. Can't claim HH points on it can i? :)

Edit: Ok they answered this time... all booked and now happy again :)

Hopefully my folks enjoy their stay!
