Hi AFF brains trust

have to construct WGA-SYD-??-??-GRX return

depart Mar 4 and arrive back in WGA sunday Mar12. Arrive in GRA by Mar5. Depart GRX Mar10

for 18 yr old daughter (who only has VA status) - status not important

Important: one PNR, Y or combination of PE and Y, minimum sectors and minimum flight times but have realistic layover times

Im thinking the ?? intermediate ports are necessarily DXB and therefore MAD.
PE necessarily means QF1,2??

Thanks Brains trust

There aren't too many flights in/out of Granada. Due to the one PNR requirement, it looks to me like she'll have to fly via MAD (using Iberia for the MAD-GRX leg) unless your daughter was to transfer from LHR to LCY and fly BA for the last leg. There aren't any other flights into GRX on airlines that would interline with anything useful.

Obviously from WGA you'd also need to position via SYD. So from SYD-MAD it would indeed make sense to travel via DXB using QF/EK. That way you could book WGA-SYD-DXB-MAD-GRX on a single PNR. Unfortunately QF1 doesn't connect well to any EK DXB-MAD flight so there would be a ~7 hour layover in DXB. But as the stopover is from approx. midnight to 7am, it may be a good opportunity to overnight in the airport hotel and get some sleep (especially if flying Y).

WGA-SYD-DOH-MAD-GRX with QR for the long-haul legs would also work as this would still all be oneworld. There would seem to be quite a long layover in SYD (of all places) though. It would also be a little more expensive though based on a quick ITA Matrix search.

If you want premium economy, I would think that WGA-SYD-DXB-LHR-MAD-GRX (with SYD-DXB-LHR on QF in PE, and the rest in Y) would be logical. But not sure if possible to construct this on one ticket. Possibly best to ask a travel agent about this.

Using matrix.itasoftware.com

Depart Mar4 arr Mar 5 actually gets pretty tight. If arrive Mar 6 there's more options.

Best options

WGA-SYD-DXB-MAD-GRX (QF-QF/EK-EK-IB)
WGA-SYD-SIN-LHR,LCY-GRX (QF-BA-BA-BA) - can also purchase this via MH - it's the cheapest
WGA-SYD-SIN-LHR-MAD-GRX (QF-BA-BA-BA-IB)

Oh, and BA have WT+ which could work on the longer haul legs

Edit: What's happening in Granada?

Edit: Starting in SYD rather than WGA adds QR as an option, there are others shown but the pricing is stupid.

There are also some "fun" routings incl QF via JNB connecting to BA and QF via DFW connecting to IB.

To depart Mar 4 and arr Mar 5, the stupidly early EK departure is well priced but would require travel to SYD night prior or to drive up from WGA in the middle of the night!
