westjet - JAL booking change - Choose Seats on JL?

I had flights from Vancouver to Tokyo with Westjet.
Just got an email saying they made a change and I needed to choose from 3 flights.

I chose the direct route which is now with Japan Airlines rather than Westjet.
Issue is I had seats selected which are now gone and I can't select new ones.

Any ideas how to do this? I have tried looking up my booking on the JAL website but get an error saying it can't be found. Westjet website says I can't get seats until check-in.
As I'm traveling with 2 kids I need to select seats.

Hoping to do this online rather than having to call - but do I call Westjet or JAL?

I would call JAL.

The ticket will need to be reissued for a change in carrier. Has it been issued? If it’s the same PNR JAL should be able to locate you, or at least locate you by flight date and time + name.

JAL is a pain to select seats with online. To bring hte booking up, you have to enter your details EXACTLY as in the booking.

Having typed that - it can be done.
