They seem to be hesitant to restablish a brand back in the same town, DRW, BNE, MEL, TSV and HBA all join PER as having once had a Sheraton. At least MEL is getting one back.

Stayed in all of those as well as Sheraton Alice Springs and Ayers Rock-as it was then.

This may help if I do decide to go did lifetime SPG instead of HH diamond. Being leisure stays only, I don't think dual status is quite possible.

I look forward to more modern competition in the PER hotel sector, I just hope it isn't scrapped if the economy tanks in the planning stages.

Perth hotels are pretty poor so that's good news.

Hyatt is lovely as is the Hilton, Duxton and crown. There was a Sheraton which is still nice even after a re brand.

There's no problems finding a decent hotel there's just simply not enough rooms to meet demand.

.

I have stayed at 2 of these and visited 1 and found them tired and dull to say the least. Certainly not comparable to the standard of hotels in Sydney or Melbourne but I guess consistent with the standards in other regional centres.

I would disagree that the hilton or Hyatt are any good. Not stayed at the Pan Pac so cannot comment.

The hilton doesn't even have a lounge, and the rooms are tired. It's also about the soft product and I just don't feel that the Parmelia Hilton has anything much going for it. Bring on a Conrad ;)

It's been a while since my last Hyatt stay but maybe the have picked up. I don't frequent Perth hotels that much as I live here...

As a regular Perth visitor I can't wait for Westin to open in Perth. The poor standard of hotels in Perth astounds me when compared to the excellent offer of hotels in Sydney and Melbourne. Despite my Diamond status I give the tired musty Hilton a miss and choose the modern comforts of Fraser Suites or the Crown hotels at Birdswood. I have tried the Pan Pacific a couple of times which is large but huge variance in room quality and the Duxton which isn't to my style with inconsistent service levels. Perth needs more new hotels or the current ones refurbed given the market price you are forced to pay for a room overnight

Have you tried the smaller boutique hotels? Perhaps The Terrace Hotel in the CBD or The Richardson in West Perth.

The Pan Pacific used to be excellent, but I had the misfortune to stay in one of their unrenovated suites a while back and it was poorly funished, almost unlit and shabby, despite the space and view.

I was pretty happy with my stay at the Parmelia Hilton recently - but that might be because I took a Wot Hotel deal and for the price, would have been happy with anything.

I totally agree with LiamPG.

It seems the hotel owners and manager just want the very high room rates and given the highest occupancy rates in the country, they don't give a toss about customer service.

Completely agree, these are the only hotels I stay in in Perth... and both aren't ideally located. I'd be happy for anything to open in Perth... just something new!

Interesting - I regularly stay at both, although admittedly I stay at the Hilton purely for Promos (and occasional bargains) and to maintain diamond (otherwise I would probably give it a miss) however I prefer staying at the Hyatt - actually it has become one of my favourite hotels in Australia (location, food options (reasonable prices and no service fees for room service ) parking and the architecture of the building) and has improved dramatically over the last few years or so (although so has the price.... !). Always get treated well here and whilst service is not as polished as say other Hyatt hotels - it is pretty good for Perth.
