For anyone there tomorrow walk around to the P1 carpark side and there are glass emergency exit doors from the luggage carousel. Then lookup.

Didn't the exemption only apply to "freight, propeller and small jet aircraft", so there's been no change as far as QF2 is concerned?

There was a shoulder period: International passenger aircraft movements
Subject to approval, certain international passenger aircraft are permitted to operate during the curfew shoulder period.
The 'curfew shoulder period' means the periods between 23:00 to 00:00 and 05:00 to 06:00 each day..

Yes, this section - section 12 - doesn't have a sunset clause, and remains in place.

Sections 13, 14 and 15 - the exemptions - "do not apply to a take‑off or landing that occurs on or after the date specified by the Minister by notice in the Gazette as the date on which the airport to be constructed at the site known as Badgerys Creek is able to be used for night aircraft movements."

(a) granting the approval is consistent with the quota requirements in whichever of subsections (8) and (9) applies; and
(b) the Secretary is satisfied that approving the take‑off or landing during that period on that day is justified because:
(i) there are curfew constraints at overseas airports or there is a lack of capacity at Sydney Airport outside curfew periods; and
(ii) there is no alternative airport in the Sydney area with capacity to accommodate the take‑off or landing.

Which is why QF2 went around in circles, (ii) is no longer true, it was back in the day when I did the approvals at YSSY or ASSY as it was then known as!
