QR to start WSI 3 weekly from 15 Dec *2027* then ramping up to daily, reported on breakfast TV this morning.

The LinkedIn post also provides this:
Operating three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, flights will leverage WSI's 24/7 operations with arrivals at 11:45pm and departures at 4:10pm.

I wonder if they have the times the wrong way around?

From the QR press release
Qatar Airways flights to Western Sydney International Airport (WSI)
Starting 15 December 2027, flights from Doha will operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday:
Doha (DOH) to Western Sydney (WSI) – Flight QR906: Departure 01:40; Arrival 23:45
Flights from Western Sydney will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday:
Western Sydney (WSI) to Doha (DOH) – Flight QR907: Departure 16:10; Arrival 23:00

Will the planes have Q Suites though or are they going to do what SQ and QF are doing and use smaller planes 🫠

Edit: SMH says they're flying the 777 300ER. Yay, Q Suites!

I am concerned that 4 days before opening, and Uber has unable to select WSI as destination.

How can I get to WSI and earn Qantas Points on Uber then?

I can just imagine Avalon Airport looking on with envy as all these airlines come knocking on WSI's door.
I feel for some reason Melbourne is not as busy as Sydney which means Avalon is still yet to achieve their level of attractiveness.

Fairly sure the catchment for Avalon is significantly smaller and also not a freight centre.

Additionally MEL is a much better airport location and facility-wise than AVV.

Will be interesting to see if there are going to be any Priority Pass restauruants and lounges.

The Rayleigh Lounge looks like it will only be for Star Alliance G* or VA Gold/Plat members so far...

I think moving freight to AVV could spare up MEL for more services?
Yet I heard MEL is relatively flat in terms of passenger movement.
