Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

But if the domestic airlines are JQ and slightly later QF would a thirds party lounge get much business if there is also a QF lounge.
Depends on how... good... the QF lounge will be. If there will be one (for all we know, QF might get a "good" deal from the third party operators and just pay for it that way, saving them the capex of a new lounge).

Or, they might build a Business Lounge and send all the QP, SGs and Sapphires to the third party lounge. Or vice versa, if the third party lounge is pretty good.

If VA come around and want a lounge presence, they'll have to build their own or use the third party one.

Otherwise, the third party lounge may just start to charge for entry as well as accept credit cards etc.. For all we know, like ADL, they could sustain themselves quite well on that.

There's still an (un)healthy number of people out there convinced that there is room for another domestic airline in Australia.

I'm actually surprised that WSI thought about a third party domestic lounge from the get-go.

Depends on how much overlap in timing of JQ and QF flights. AFAIK,QF domestic lounges are only open when QF is operating flights. Places like OOL, HBA etc have JQ flights well after the QP has closed.

There won't be a "VA lounge" at WSI if VA (if ever) eventually enters WSI at some point.

I don't see VA treating WSI as more than a regional spoke with 4-5 flights a day max (all turnbacks by interstate base crews) in the medium term.
