Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Wendouree, being such early drinking wines really should be delivered within days of placing the order so they don't spoil - its not like anyone is going to put them away in a Cellar for 5, 10, 20, 40 years  :p

The snail mail and manual processing really goes against the grain of instant everything demanded / expected in today's society - even for patient wine enthusiast's with a cellar who buy wine to drink years and decades later.

(my apologies to those still waiting  )

Are you in SA? Got my card debited on Tuesday, for full amount so very happy as only red crayon and finally got some Cabernet!,thought they may have been delivered by now, do they send tracking through Aust post, don’t remember it happening the last couple of years, just don’t want it left outside which has happened with a couple of other deliveries since Covid 19.

I have not had AP tracking in the past For Wendourie deliveries, and none so far this year

My Cc got charged this afternoon. Red crayon in Melbourne. It looks like I will got most of what I ordered less 4 bottles of Shiraz.

What did you order? Why do you think you are missing the Shiraz?

I ordered a mix of everything for 5 cases. The card got charged $260 less which is around the prices of 4 Shiraz. I wrote on the side of order form to ring me if any of the wine sold out so I can substitute with what left but no call this year. In the past they did call.

Thank you, I will let you know what I get charged...when and “if” it happens today.

Not sure there has been a more interesting year at allocation time? im assuming everyone had early word on 18 being a cracker vintage and potentially lower yields. I would have though this may have been offset by the COVID dramas and people having a bit less coin. However this doesn't appear the case

Got 3 bottles of all reds this year (first time for Shiraz!). Decided to pick up some Muscat - anyone tried this before and thoughts about ageing etc ?

Feels like Qld is going to be last this year, I haven't heard anyone here who has been charged yet.

Re the impact of covid, I reckon Wendouree is one where it would be one of the last expenses to get cut from someone's budget. On the other hand, I think Penfolds (TWE) is going to be in for a rude shock with their inflated prices. $50-$65 per bottle for Wendouree is also extremely accessible in the scheme of fine wine.

thats a very good point, still so accessible for the price point, plus would much rather give the Bradys my money then the big penfolds juggernaut where half the bottle price is paying for an inflated marketing machine

It will age. But it's not great. They do have trouble selling it.
