This is my first ever trip report, so go easy on me! :)

Every two years or so I get the opportunity to get to Frankfurt, Germany for a week for a major trade event, but this time I'm adding a holiday on the end, and getting to visit a country (Cambodia) for the first time. Later today I'm going to head to the airport to begin a 4 week journey of some work and some (in my opinion) well earned holidays!

Here’s my journey:

13th September – MEL - KUL (J) with MH
13th September – KUL - BKK (J) with MH
13th September – BKK - DXB (J) with EK
14th September – DXB – FRA (J) with EK
20th September – FRA – DXB (J) with EK
21st September – DXB – BKK (J) with EK
24th September – BKK – SIN (Y) with 3K
28th September – SIN – REP (Y) with 3K
2nd October – REP-KUL (Y) with AK
5th October – KUL- MEL (J) with MH

During this trip I’ll be predominately staying in SPG properties, and hitting Platinum for the first time. I’m also taking the family to Legoland in Malaysia for 4 nights, so that will be an experience.

I’m hanging out for Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, it should be amazing!

I intend to take general pics of the seats, food etc, but also some of the culture I see around the place. I do have a great camera, but I doubt I’ll bother uploading many of those pics here, so you’ll be stuck with pics from my Samsung Galaxy S5!

If anyone wants to know or see anything in particular, let me know!

Angkor Wat and the many other Wats (Temples) in Cambodia are amazing.....

And the S5 would take some good quality photos. I'm using a Samsung Note3 and here's a photo of Angkor Wat at sunrise taken just two weeks ago when I was there...

Looking forward to the report, make sure the umbrellas are packed for everybody for Legoland. Would love to hear how the prices and availability compare!

If your hotel offers tuk tuks to go out to Angkor Wat, take 'em! So much fun, even in the traffic in the town.

Also do the 'fish massage' ( I think it's called?) in town - where you get to feed the fish in a surprising way. If you have anyone else along, get them to go first and have a camera ready for the reaction :)

There is also a fantastic restaurant there .... Out of the way .... I'll look it up.

We had THE most fun in Siem Reap :) :)

Looking forward to this very interesting trip

Well I've landed in Frankfurt. I'll post a few pics and other information a little later, but I learned another valuable travel lesson on this trip. When your gut says there is something possibly wrong and you have an option to change it, do it!

I was checking into MEL with MH, and I wanted my two bags checked all the way through to FRA. So from BKK, MH would interline with EK. The girl didn't seem confident, got a supervisor, and gave me a big smile and said, all good... I had the option to getting them in BKK, but I had an old mate I wanted to meet in the city, so timing was very tight. So, I get to BKK, head up to the EK desk before heading to the city and I'm told they are working on locating my bags as they can't be sure they were properly tagged, but don't worry, come back in a few hours we'll have it covered. This was at the First Class check-in and a supervisor again was involved, and I had confidence. I came back hours later, told everything was fixed and you'll see your bags in FRA.... well I'm now sitting my my room in Frankfurt, no bags, and I've been told one of my two bags is still in BKK, and the other, well, they are working on it! Great way to start a three week trip!!! On a positive note, if they bags don't turn up in 24 hours, I do get $500 to spend care of covermore! ;)

On some positive notes, the cabin service on the MH flight to KUL was outstanding! Maybe 50% full in J, and 90% full in Y. I can't speak for the food as all I did was sleep. The EK service on both legs was at it's usual high standards, so no surprise there!

Well, time for a beir and sausage (well I'm in Germany!), so later I'll post a few pics!

Sorry for the delayed response, the work element of the trip in Germany was much busier than expected! So now I'm going to backtrack a little and start back in Melbourne!

MEL-KUL-BKK:

Being a 00:05 flight out of Melbourne, I thought I'd get to the airport by no later than 9:15pm and get some QF First Class Lounge time in. This really didn't eventuate... The line through immigration was insane! The express line was overflowing and the other line was no better. Over 75 mins after I arrived at the airport, I was in the QF Lounge and it was preparing to close...I hadn't eaten, and they did serve me some calamari and a wonderful Western Australian Cabernet. I spent the next 30 mins in the lounge, and then the remainder in the MH Lounge. Going from QF First Lounge to MH Golden Lounge is a little disappointing, but all good. On board, the flight from MEL-KUL was gone in a flash, a sleeping tablet and laying flat gave me a lovely quick trip. As for the food, no idea... :)

Here are a collection of pics from this part of the trip:

Once I got to KUL, even though I got some good sleep, my body demanded more, so with 3.5 hours in KUL, I went to the MH First Class Lounge in the Satellite Terminal, and booked a sleep room. This was perfect, I got another 45 mins or so of sleep then went for a quick shower and out. The shower was a fail, the water was ice cold.

I went off to the main terminal had a coffee and boarded for BKK.

I've been back now almost 2 weeks, and some issues here have kept me away from this report. I'm going to try to finish it over the next week at the most. Cambodia was simply imcredible, but Legoland had some positives as well!
