Weird redemption pricing

Double the points required, but the fees are identical. Is there really that more value to flying as a Virgin codeshare?

Well I always think it's complicated looking at and pricing VA rewards on partner airlines .....but it's VA ..never easy to do much.

Okay. I didn't know there was such a thing as a cash seat converted to points.

Velocity calls them "Any Seats". It's basically the same as buying the normal fare in cash, but you pay for it in points instead, and of course you can change the balance of points and cash you pay.

Any Seats book exactly as if you paid for the fare in cash, including different levels of fares (e.g. Choice, Flexi, etc.). You also get points and status credits for them.

The issue is that the overall value of points for the Any Seat is pretty poor. Unless you literally have too many points than what you can do with them, and you desperately want that seat, most people will be wise to avoid Any Seat redemptions.

Both Virgin themselves and their partners can have Any Seat rewards available. The only restriction of Any Seat is that there is a seat free on the plane.

Keeping in mind (or in another tab) the costs of Reward Seat fares on various airlines will let you see at a glance if there are Reward Seats or not.
