Hi All
Have noticed that webjet offers more flight choices for flying Qantas than the Qantas website?

Last week I would have been booked on Virgin CBR-PER but for some strange reason I was looking at the Webjet site
and noticed a QF Flight not much dearer than what VA was offering ,so requested it and got it booked thankfully.

Today same story, web jet has better flight offerings PER-CBR in a few weeks time.

Why So??

Webjet might more choices, and good for some in putting in fares for all airlines to a certain destination, but I find their fees offputting.
With QF in my case, I pay $2.50 to with a VisaDebit and thats all.
If Webjet took off all their fees (granted, this is how they make their money), I would probably most likely start book with them.
Not that remember the name of their fees, but there is one I think called a booking fee of $19.90 or so. EDIT: they call it a "processing fee" and its $19.95. Thats just for a domestic fare.
Each to their own, I guess.

$2.50 fee on QF? Unless it's a multicity itin, you shouldn't be paying any fees at all! ;)

Webjet not only charge a $19.95 'processing fee' but at $12.95 'price guarantee' plus there is no option at all to pay via BPAY to avoid credit card surcharges but wait, there's more - even when they are the merchant ie your cc statement will say Webjet not the airline concerned they still hit you up for the cc fees charged by the airlines if you were booking direct on the airlines own website eg $8.50 on JQ claiming it's a 'Jetstar fee'. Dishonest to the max.

Shouldn't the 1% or 2% merchant fee charged by Webjet's bank be well and truly covered in their substantial processing fee?

I agree - I made the mistake of booking with WebJet once, but never again once I realised the disgraceful fees that they had charged me. Now, they're just a handy site for checking the flight times for different airlines on one page, before booking direct with the airline

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Paying for a QF fare without fees with a CC, heh, that would be nice, but not in our wildest dreams would that happen.
To earn points from the CC side, you have to pay fees, which is a pity.
Stupid too, in the sense that they encourage us to spend, to pay by card, but then tab on either a $2.50 or a $7.70 fee on top.
Aye, Webjet is worst, so many fees.

Edit: For Caversham04, now that they will bamboozle you with emails for the rest of your email's life.
I made the mistake of adding my email address to Webjet a long time ago, now they keep sending me emails.

:( I thought you'd get the hint.

It's well known that you can buy gift vouchers for yourself and QF don't charge CC fees when buying a gift voucher. When using the voucher the remaining balance of the fare can be paid with a CC and the CC fees won't be added. That way you can use a points earning CC and not have fees added. Only downside is vouchers cannot be used for multicity itin's or as far as I'm aware they cannot be used over the phone either, they can only be used for one-way or return fares.

They can but you'll have to pay a booking fee for using the call centre.

This is more relevant for international flights but wouldn't the voucher method invalidate the free travel insurance where your credit card company requires you to buy your ticket on the credit card?

Depends on the terms and conditions of the card. Some cards will still cover you as long as the majority of the costs are paid for with the card, including hotels, car hire, etc. Always check with the insurance issuer though.

As for me, doesn't matter or bother me as I don't have a card that gives me free insurance.

I've set up a Rule in Outlook and voila - they automatically disappear into my Deleted Items folder as soon as they're downloaded...... best place for 'em :)

If only I could do that with Webjet (my error on that), and also that b***ding Adriana and her BFF ones, with Yahoo mail, which is the pits! Or the Meds email, or the lengthen you thing one. Add to thrash, but it keeps coming back. Apart from Webjet which I just delete.
Back to the gist of Webjet, maybe if they do something that sets themselves apart from booking direct with Qantas, or Jetstar, I would book with Webjet, but their fees are too much.
Ok, will leave this post in peace now.
Thanks for letting me vent.
