We dropped a passport at arrivals in HNL recently, had an official email advising us that they had it, before we even realised it was gone. Collected it from a QF agent at the check in desks, which we were waiting at because we missed our connection.

My son and DIL were in Tokyo struggling to wrangle their luggage and 12 month son in a pusher onto a metro when the doors closed and the train departed with their baggage on board but them on the platform. The platform guard made a call and told them to go to the next station. They did so and there was all their luggage carefully stacked on the platform together with an elderly man who had taken it off the train and then got off the train himself to guard it for them until they arrived.

My son left his expensive retainer (had recently had his braces removed) in a Denny's restaurant in Anaheim. It was at the start of a 4 week holiday. And we had spent a lot of money on those braces and a straight tooth line.

We didn't realise until we had walked back to our hotel.
Raced back to the restaurant. The staff checked the trash, no they couldn't find it. I said can I look, sure they said. With my bare hands I searched through the trash, you can imagine all sorts of yukky stuff! The determined mother found it after spying his colouring in place mat and he had placed it on a napkin. The things we do for our kids

That reminds me I need to remind him of this on his first Father's day lunch at our place this weekend.

When I was a newbie traveller I left my passport in the safe at the hotel in Bruges and it was about a 20 minute walk to the train station. I think I was about two minutes from the station when I remembered so had to walk back to the hotel and retrieve it and then walk back to the station.

Last year I stayed at the Sofitel in Adelaide the night before a long trip so I could have the house all tidy for the house sitter.

As I got in the Uber to come home my phone said my airtag with my keys were still missing. Great Uber driver took me back and drove around the block while I went back up to my room and couldn't find them. Went back to the concierge and he showed me a photo and I had left them in the restaurant the night before. Pheww - the Uber driver got a nice tip

Passport left in hotel safe in Tokyo.
Discovered missing when about to board Shinkansen.

Rang hotel . No problem, it will be TakUBin via Yamato Black Cat to your hotel.

Passport arrived later that day at destination hotel.

Can't remember the price but it was a cheap as cheap can be

I've left Bose earbuds behind at two hotels and a travel adapter at another.

First two were small 5 star hotels and I received an email asking what to do with them, hold until I come back, dispose or send somewhere (at my expense). One I had posted to me in AU the other I said dispose.

The Park Hyatt Vienna found my travel adapter and used http://wwwfaundit.com/ to contact me, with a photo and options. As it was only worth about $20 AUD I said they could dispose of it.

So… since this has morphed to also include being reunited with items…

I’ve told this story before as well, but I always find it amusing!

Was doing a same plane return on Cathay…. HKG-ICN-HKG - to take advantage of insanely cheap business class fares ex Seoul (like super cheap).

Regional business class on 777 - so 42 or so seats, but very lightly loaded, maybe 10 of us.

Crew came to me and said they’d noticed I’d be on the return flight with them!

‘Yes!’ I exclaimed.

They thought it was very special.

On disembarking they all said ‘see you in a few minutes’ etc etc

Anyway, I clear transit security and realise I’ve left my glass on board!

Get back on the plane to effusive ‘welcome back’ greetings, and ‘don’t we know you?’

Giggles and smiles all round.

They then said ‘oh, you left your glasses at your seat’

‘Yes!’ I said, relieved… expecting to be reunited with them momentarily.

‘We handed them to ground staff to take to lost property’.

Travelling with then 2 year old son in Europe and he left his teddy on a table outside in a hotel in Switzerland. We'd already started driving when out came the wailing. Of course we drove back and it was still there.

On a trip to the USA with 9 year old and four year old, I think we left something behind of the kids at every single place we stayed in. Also left my lovely camera behind on a bench in the bathroom at Disney world. Never seen again. Claimed back on insurance.

Left all my shopping in a New York taxi. Well, actually he drove off as we were about to head into the boot. Claimed back on insurance. I had all the receipts. It was when we had parity with US so nice shopping trip.
