Way to refund a Red E Deal?

Does anyone know if this would work to refund a red e deal - change the flight to a different flight with a fully flexible fare, then refund that fare?

I note that they add the $77 change fee online for such a change, so just wondering if you'd get that refunded back too when you did the fully flexible refund? Anyone know the answer?!

No way to avoid the change fee.
